I bought the bypass for my powerwagon with the 66RFE ; it was not as easy to install due to the return lines all being aluminum, but its manageable (2 hours max) but once installed WOW! trans went from 185 when towing my 8k TT to 140.....amazing product, a must for at least the 66RFE. It does what is says, if you got a Ram, GET IT WORTH THE MONEY!

Last week I installed the ATC pass-thru block on my 2016 Ram mega dually 6.7 with 68RFE. It took more time to get the tools gathered and the truck jacked up. Once that was done it took less than 10 minutes to install. I had a couple small plugs ready and lost less that 1/2 quart. I just returned from a trip pulling our 15,500 lb 5th wheel from Charlotte, NC to Surfside, SC, 410 miles round trip. We do this trip 2-3 times each year. With the OEM thermostatic controlled block the trucks digital gauge would always read between 170 and 173 degrees. These are the same temps the truck always showed no matter the time of year or the load being towed. It was always 170-173. With the ATS block there was a wider range when towing. At 45 in stop and go traffic it was 169-172. At 55-65 on roiling grades it was 161-169. At 65-70 on rolling grades it was 165-171. At 73 MPH on basically level grade it stayed between 169 and 172. Unloaded running 75 around I485 in Charlotte is was 159-164.

Update: I drove to work the last two days empty, 55 miles each way at 70-75 MPH. It was 72F both morning and the trans fluctuated between 139 and 145. In the even ing is was 92F and the tran was between 160 and 167. I've parked the truck for a few weeks as diesel is to expensive for the daily 110 mile trip buy will update the next time I get it out of the warehouse.

I did this install on 2019 2500 and lost 4 quarts of oil. Transmission also shifted funny during the first test drive after service, but all it was doing was re-learning. Transmission temps are around 30 degrees cooler unloaded (130-140 degrees F) now.

I have a 2008 6.7 with lower mileage . It is my first diesel and I’ve obviously been scared to the point of thinking my transmission is always on the brink of failure. I tow a Jeep 4 or 5 times a year but otherwise try to keep it serviced and baby it. In my model years is there anything I can do like this to help my truck last. It is a new to me truck and essentially my dream truck because it’s the newest one I could ever afford. It will likely be the last vehicle I will ever purchase but could never afford t put a transmission in it. I just need to protect my truck and respectfully ask for any available help. Thank you for your time,and God bless . John

Seems well built I just installed on my 2018 ram 3500 aisin 69, it’s not leaking and took it for a test drive. Runs 134 degrees and with tow haul I got it up to 141. What bothers me is the how I had to tweak and bend my hard lines connected to transmission and had to bend the hang down bracket because one hard line is supposed to be offset. There is a lot of tension on this. I ordered the PPE and they have a cool magnet plug on the side 20$ cheaper also. Why wouldn’t ats match the factory dimensions?🤨 this part doesn’t fit without binding lines ….

100% not the reason or any way related to the recall. This will not fix the fluid issue. Please check out this product: www.atsdiesel.com/ats-doomsday-device

What about just re-plumbing it with two direct lines and no block?
@NeverEnoughPyro40 Жыл бұрын
@davidprattdo Judging by your comment I’m going to assume you have no idea what the thermal bypass does, I will give you a quick and simple explanation! In order for your transmission to function properly your transmission fluid must reach a certain temperature but it cannot go over a certain temperature or it will burn and you will ruin your trans, Towing, towing uphills abusing the transmission will all cause your trans temp to rise! Those lines go to your transmission cooler to help keep your trans temp from getting too hot, However you don’t want them to get too cool so that thermal bypass valve redirects your trans fluid back into the transmission bypassing the cooler preventing the fluid from getting too cool! If you haven’t noticed transmission line sometimes will go into your vehicles radiator then it comes back out and then goes through the trans cooler then back to the transmission, The reason why the fluid runs through the radiator is to help get your trans temp up to operating temps on vehicles in cold environments such as winters in Minnesota!

Need some help. So I’m new to the diesel work and I just picked up a 2010 2500 6.7. I was planning on doing this delete but when I crawl under my truck and look at the area where the thermal bypass would be and there is nothing there. It’s just hard lines as far I can see. I’m looking in the same location that you’re working on in this video. And my trans looks like the 68RFE but it’s missing the thermal bypass. Any help or knowledge would awesome.
@Juan4themoney3 жыл бұрын
It's located on the passenger side and has 2 lines coming out of the trans, I just did mine was pretty easy, hardest part was figuring out how to take the retaining clips out. Took about 30 minutes.
@alanwright7823 жыл бұрын
@@Juan4themoney so after doing a lot of research and asking questions. I found out that not all rams in 2010 had this new feature added. My lines are just hard lines with no bypass as that’s the older style before the bypass was introduced.

Is this thermal bypass cannot prevent transmission fluid from overheating? It like having engine without thermostat. Brother in-law had his removed on Ford and first towing, transmission got overheated. He installed thermostat back and no more overheating.
