I needed this 2 weeks ago when I wrecked my barrel nut, but JP customer service was beyond impressive

Everyone at the range tells me that this handguard is the cats meow. The Signature Series on my AR15 and Ar10. Love them, looks super professional.
@huafist013 жыл бұрын
My boy Dustin did a more professional version of this than the one did a couple of years ago haha - only thing that I do different is that I tighten the jam nut locking screws in a cross pattern to maintain consistent pressure all the way around. It makes keeping the barrel centered in the guard much easier.

I have a Quick disconnect specifically for the purpose of rail alignment and use it on all of my builds. The problem with the JP system is that you would need to purchase the top Picatinny in order to do it. And if you don't plan on installing one then it's a rather expensive purchase just to get the thing lined up. I think the rail should come with a short top Picatinny designed specifically for just that purpose. To align the rail to the receiver. I mount Infrared Flashlights and other items to the sides and bottom of my rails but I never mount anything to the tops. So to have to spend anywhere from $60.00 to $84.00 just to get them aligned is a bit steep. But regardless, I have over a dozen of the JP Handguards and I do love them. I did machine a special plug that is a perfect fit into the primary barrel nut and steps to the gas tube passage in the receiver to keep the barrel nut aligned until the LocTite cures for 24 hours. And I don't do the final torque until the LocTite is cured. I will tighten to around 65Ft. Lbs. while curing then upon final assembly I loosen then retighten to 85Ft. Lbs. and I also use just a light coat of assembly grease between the Handguard and the Barrel Nuts.

As a perfectionist I struggled with the last step but it turned out nice on the AR-10

Hello, Thanks for a great video. How do I adjust the gas block when the handrail covers the top tension screw please?
@mikepaul32003 жыл бұрын
I just wish there were anti rotation tabs touching the upper. Only thing stopping it from backing off is the gas tube.
@jbuch66koop3 ай бұрын
The jam nut presses the threads against each other, when you tighten it. It seems like it's floating still but it's locked in. It's a very unorthodox way of doing it though.
@BenBelkin3 жыл бұрын
I’ve always been intrigued by this rail. The rigidity of it specifically. Question: wouldnt it be better to put a piece of top rail on, and then use a one piece scope mount to bridge the gap between the upper and the handguard in order to align the rail, versus eyeballing it?
@ahhmeeb93543 жыл бұрын
sounds like a good idea to me...
@Spoons74143 жыл бұрын
No. Never bridge optics. As rigid as a lot of hand guards can be they’re still a separate piece that can move and shift your optic. Unless you have a monolithic upper you always want your optic mounted on the upper receiver only. That’s why they make cantilever mounts to give you a little extra room if the optics still needs to go further than the receiver would allow
@BenBelkin3 жыл бұрын
@@Spoons7414 you misunderstood. I said to use an optic mount to align the handguard’s pic rail with the upper before tightening down the hand guard. Once aligned, the optic would go on the upper only.
@JPRifles3 жыл бұрын
Yes. Not everyone is will have one of our 12:00 rails, but if you do, you could align the tube using it just like you're saying.

JP MK III Handguard looks superb, i wonder if it will fit on my Angstadt UDP9 using your jp barrel nut?
@JPRifles3 жыл бұрын
Not familiar with how their hand guard mounts up. The MK III will mate to any standard AR-15 barrel nut attachment.
@greg-judyjones89743 жыл бұрын
Wouldnt you put anti-seize on the barrel retaining nut threads and not the outside? I believe the instructions say to put it on the threads. After hand tight, also supposed to let it set 24 hours so the red loctite sets up.
@greg-judyjones89743 жыл бұрын
Just to correct my previous statement, I was thinking the threads were inside the barrel retaining nut. They are not, they are on the outside. I just finished installing my new JP h/g. These instructions helped, but the provided instructions are very clear. Love the new h/g!!

Google how much is JP picatinny rail first before buying the handguard.

Don’t need I have the signature hand guard 12” on my 308 it will use m lok rail attachments I got some off Amazon fit just fine
@tacticalshooter4059 Жыл бұрын
@headhunta_ty2029 does the amazon mlok rail have the same screw size and distance with the JP rail? I also modified magpul rail by adding another screw hole to match the JP rail. For me its just too much work. Fyi 9inch jp rail is about $69 magpul is $24. Thats just crazy

Where I can buy this custom socket for screwing in the inner nut?

So, not all of your barrels are installed with your thermal compensator?
@JPRifles3 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to the Thermal Dissipator (heat sink)? If so, you're correct. That's an optional upgrade for our barrels.

Can you just twist the handguard “shroud” part off at any time? Issues with irons staying true?

No the hand guards are not retained by twist action but set screws.

I know most/all their uppers receivers are thermo fit just as BCM receivers how would this work with them...... I’m interested in running your handguard with my BCM upper..... and is in best to slow the locktite to set over night prior to installing the barrel?

Always best practice to let the thread locker set according to its instructions.

@jbuch66koop3 ай бұрын
@@DrGoyo626I'm thinking that's why they tell you to put the barrel nut on first, before putting the barrel in. Because I don't see how you're supposed to heat that area up, with the barrel nut covering it, and I can't see why the nut has to be put on first. You can set the barrel and then install the nut...
