Installed the Seibon Vented Carbon Hood for the Type R!

Hi guys,
Been waiting to get this carbon hood (Seibon TS Style Carbon Hood) for the Type R and after getting a cracked one on my first delivery and having to wait another couple of weeks to get a new one shipped to me, I finally got it and installed it.
I didn't really do a full detail on how to install it on this video, but if you have any questions on the install please let me know in the comments below so I can answer some of them. (FYI not a professional)
Definitely want to get this hood and my fender pieces paint matched as soon as possible and get you guys an update!

Just get the filter wrap (water resistant)from Injen hydrosheild, AEM dryflow or K&N Dry charger, even pour water from outside, inside is still dry, no need to replace the intake plus it's keep dirt go into your filter

@@tusqo2666 you can adjust your latch striker, perhaps move it up a bit so it's easier for it to catch

You mention the back of the hood wasn’t carbon fiber or am I wrong cuz then there’s no point on spending the money for just looks. Metal body panels have an average of 80% weight saving ration to carbon fiber and aluminum has 50% less weight to carbon fiber.

Would water leaking into the intake be a problem for the stock intake?

I doubt it will but safest bet is to drill something at the bottom for water to drain

Although full carbon looks nice, i preferred the cleaner look of paint matching it with exposed carbon vents

Looks Great! Just curious, how much less did the carbon weigh versus the OEM aluminum hood? It looks awesome but im most curious about weight saving lol

I actually didnt weigh the 2 hoods. I can tell the seibon hood feels lighter though, but not by much

Doesnt really matter. Only thing is I drilled a few small holes on the underneath of my mishimoto intake to drain any water

@@AnthonyGarcia-cb7co Honestly you can't see the holes on the intake unless I take it off. You can just remove the intake box and drill a few small holes on the bottom and that should cover that. I have driven the car in the rain when I had a short ram intake and it was totally fine. Ideal? Probably not.

Hey, I never ran into this issue but I think you can just unloosen the latch and adjust it up so that the catch is higher.

Its not that noticable so I never even attempted to fix it. Besides I dont think you actually can adjust it

I honestly actually got it to aline kus it wouldn't latch without it..I just loosen all four bolts and kinda gave it a small push and tighten it it was fine

Curious about the hood latch... do you need to install pins or can you just remove the stock hood latch and replace it into the CF hood?

Hey dude, sorry didn't see your message earlier. I have seen multiple Type R owners run the hood without any latches. Some even track their Type Rs without the latch. Although if you want peace of mind, then I would recommend getting latches.

Hey man what do you do if it rains? Is it ok for the interior to get wet or no?

To be honest, I left it out in the rain more often than none. No issues at all. I do have a mishimoto intake instead of the injen intake now so the filter is enclosed. I did drill a few tiny holes at the bottom of the intake to drain out any water that does get in.

My plan is to get a Mishimoto intake since it is covering the filter at the top. Then I will drill several small holes at the bottom of the box so in case water seeps in, the water will drain out. I will order it soon and make a video on that!

@@midarete i see instead we made 6 minths test to develop a dual stage dual filter with different lenght air intake, so for the position they will be totally exposed to water drops, and cNnot close on thw top otherwise we would reduce the flow capability. In same weeks should be able to poat first videos.. looking forward to see yours :-)

Hey, I never took an actual picture of where I drilled. I do recall the intake plate on the bottom being slightly sloped. drill a small drain hole there

@@Mkylevitug Hey man, so actually since my S2000 has been taking up my time the Type R has been sitting out side for months now. When it rains it doesn't impact anything. Mishimoto intake is pretty sealed up so rain doesn't really cause any issues.
