Easily the most helpful video and explanation without all of the corny commentary and nonsense I’ve seen in other videos. Straightforward, calm and just plain helpful. Thank you. You saved my life. Also, millennial here- didn’t have a level to use on a refinishing project I was doing and ‘eyeballed’ it. Hats off to boomers that are tech savvy and showed me there’s an app for that 😂 thanks again! Cheers

How difficult is it to remove these units every fall? And is that necessary? Thanks for the great video.

I like to remove them for multiple reasons, but it's not required. It's very easy to remove and reinstall on the same window once the initial setup is done.

The new version of it can only be purchased on Home Depot where the model number has “u” in it. The new version allows the remote to be a thermometer now. Normally, the thermometer sits behind the air intake grill and will shutdown or lower the compressor because it sense the cool air near it too soon. With the new “comfort sense” mode on the remote, it acts as a thermometer anywhere you place the remote such as across the room. As a result, the remote will keep sensing the temperature around it to keep the compressor so that the room will be properly cooled. Another feature the new models have is “flash cool”. It will force the compressor to run on max and the fan on high no matter what so that the room will be chilled faster
@elitehandyman91116 күн бұрын
Great info on the different models. We have also seen the differences and the "Flash Cool" mode is a great option.

Considering the 12k unit for our vacation home we shut down in the winter. To minimize upkeep, is it ok to leave this unit mounted year round, or is that not recommended?Great tutorial btw!
@elitehandyman911Ай бұрын
People do leave them mounted all year round and it generally is not a problem. You do not want to run the compressor below 45 degrees however, so maybe unplug it to be safe. The newer models also have a rubber plug on the bottom (outside) that should be removed for extended inactive periods. Replace the plug when putting it back in use.
@robassableАй бұрын
Thanks for the tip on the plug. Suppose to eliminate any risk of something freezing it could be argued to uninstall it for winter.

works great. BUT, if you ledge sits too far out plus is deeper than the drop of the pair of outside braces, then maybe reconsider purchase, OR plan a way to have the outside to sit on such a big ledge, MAYBE bricks, or something, BUT you must make sure that you set that up so your outside of Medea inclines the recommended. READ the manual. Great cooling power. Decent features. Home Depot app or Manufacturer has the installation instructions, READ BEFORE YOU BUY. Definitely cools nicely. Definitely quiet compared to most others because the heavy duty motor is outside.

The product is mis-labelled. AC is converted to DC by means of a rectifier, not an inverter. An inverter converts DC to AC. If you have AC outlets in your camper, you have an inverter which converts DC from the battery.

I wish you could attach photos. The plastic may slide up? Also you can drill and screw vertically down through the mount arms if the sides don’t work for you.

@@elitehandyman911 Thank you for responding! unfortunately, there is nothing under the mount arms as it is hanging from my window. Will update you on the install, but if the screws are not in place per the manual, do you think that this would still hold the A/C correctly?

I just got one of these, but foolishly realized that since I have a double window, I have no way of screwing the bracket to both sides of the window frame. I am hoping there is a way to solve this problem.
@elitehandyman9112 ай бұрын
You can offset the bracket and a/c to one side securing as normal. For the other side use the longest leg and screw it vertically into the sill. This is why there are holes in the bottom of the legs too. You will be missing the internal window lock bar, but the screws will keep it safe. For the insulation you can get hard insulation at any home store or get midea replacement here * - amzn.to/4bBkZ40 and glue two together together. We use just a few dabs of super glue. If you're in Greater Boston let us know and we'll be happy to help.

@elitehandyman9112 ай бұрын
Call MIdea for troubleshooting. They may send you a new unit as they have a warranty.
@markb89542 ай бұрын
Meaning the electronic control has detected the unit is reading one of the temperatures incorrectly. EC 07 error message is not considered a user repairable error. The good news is that most units can tolerate an EC 07 error and still continue to cool.
@JadePearce-u9b2 ай бұрын
Would this fit in a window smaller than 22"? My biggest window is about 19.75" wide and see the actual unit is about 19". Possible to set this up in that size window if we make our own shelf/mounting hardware to support the unit?
@elitehandyman9112 ай бұрын
For width you could definitely make it work. Even the bracket could be easily modified. You would have to remove the insulation brackets and do some custom insulation work. The height requirement is a hard 13 inches though to be able to get through the window. Please let us know if you go for it. And if you're in the Boston area we're able to help with the installation.

Just installed one of these yesterday so far so food. Blows super cold air. But for the life of me can't find the drain hole.
@elitehandyman9112 ай бұрын
No drain hole for now. The condensation flows from inside to outside via gravity, then once outside, sits in the pan and gets splashed up onto the condenser coil. That's by design. This makes it more efficient than other window A/C units. There is a rubber plug on the bottom of the pan of some models, but only use this to empty the pan before storing for the winter then put it back in.
@pmaint12 ай бұрын
So there has to be a drain hole somewhere or it would overflow.
