Installing 50" CVT Mt. Hood on Tacoma with Prinsu Racks | Part 4 Using Prinsu Tent Mounting Feet

Hi Jesse. I have just mounted my racks on my Tacoma and will be mounting an Autohome Columbus RTT today. The Autohome is only 120lbs or so. I'm going to try lay 1/4 inch think plastic length across the rails on the canopy rack only. Hopefully this will keep the tent low and allow use of the tent mounting hardwear similar to your CVT mounts while keeping the tent off the side rails and the front rack to stop any rattle. Fingers crossed.

So you just changed your rear bars into wider “aero” bars and mounted it like how regular bed rails would have mounted?

If you were to do it all over again would you purchase the same rack or a different one ? Just watched all 4 videos and I'm on the fence about the prinsu rack for the tent. Thaks

If I were to do it over again I would get the prinsu top rack for the camper shell/topper and the prinsu habitat rack for the cab rather than the cab rack. And I would get a much lighter tent. This tent weighs 200 lbs. not ideal for Tacoma with other added weight and plans to add more weight in the future with rear bumper etc. Although I think this tent is great for SUVs like the 4Runner or Fj cruiser. What truck do you have ? Are you talking about prinsu rack in general or the prinsu racks for the Tacoma ?

Hows the onroad/offroad performance so far? is the tent hitting your cab rack? and the is the tent rattling around while driving at highway speeds? awesome setup!

Performance is great! More movement Offroad. The tent doesn’t hit the cab rack with the prinsu tent mounting feet. And no rattling while driving on the freeway at high speeds. Thank you! I really appreciate your support!

Try putting your tent back some more that way it’s a little more centered on the rear

Wont shifting the tent back 4 inches and ditching the cab rack remedy the issues? (I don’t have a cab rack in my case)
