Installing a B Plate in your Liquidlogic Kayak

Well, got my plate it, took a lot more than 10 minutes and required a friend to help with putting back the little brick looking things that hold the seat. But overall happy that it's done and I now have a more solid Braaap, the best boat ever!

If you’re installing a b-plate into a Alpha or Remix, good luck getting the stern block out. The channels moulded into the deck lock that stern block in real solid and it’s about a 2” channel to get past. It took me 30 minutes to get that block out, trying rubber mallet, 2x4, flat crowbar, etc. perhaps a car jack would have been easier. It took 25 min. to get back in with the assistance of soap to lube it up.

How did you manage to get the stern block out ? Did you follow his steps ? I have an alpha and it's not only 2 a inch channel up top, but it's also jammed ~3 inch deep into the bottom rail. I'm twisting the whole system when I try to pull on it, and I'm not sure if my shoulder will make it out in one piece.

Any reason not to go ahead and put the bulkhead foam in along with the B plate instead of after everything is reassembled?

Why on earth would you dissemble the whole kayak to get the front pillar out. Loosen the seat, push it back and a little sideways, push the pillar the other way till it comes out...... done. In reality you do not even need to loosen the seat but it is a little easier to reassemble. Not being negative, but I guess if you need a video to figure this out it might be good to dissemble and reassemble your kayak a few times so you know how it actually works.

Hey Kirk, have you done this with one of our newer boats? It's a little more entailed. The new rail with the water bottle holder makes it more difficult to pull the bulkhead out and put a larger bulkhead in. You can definitely do it but it takes some grunting.

This was no fun on a Party Braaap; that stern pillar is a mot$*#&$;3r! I’m also not cut like that dude.
