Great video,, I'm wondering what Daniel did to prevent the meter from being picked up as a short on the TV-7's short test? Also would have been great to see what was done on the Schematic.

I know it’s been a long time but do you still sell the 3 calibration tubes?

I installed a digital meter and when testing for gm the meter jumps up and down probably .5 . Say from 45 to 50. Most digital ones I see don't vary that much. I changed the cap at the meter. Would you know what would steady it up?

It doesn't vary when setting the line voltage.

Great work. Thanks. What does it mean to stitch a digital meter into a purely analog device? The design concept involved things like meter swing, time for events and even the feel of the tube. It was all about experience. To me, this is like putting a digital speedometer on a bicycle.

With a tube tester, the needle tends to just swing into one position and stay there. So it is doing nothing but presenting a value, there is no meaningful trend or fluctuating readings that would be of much use on a tube tester. When there is, it is slow enough that it is easily noticed on the digital meter. In any case, replacement analog meters for these are unobtainable or repairable at decent prices, so the digital meter keeps the tester going.

Would make a world of difference if you would put links some where ?

If you are talking about for Daniel Nelson, he doesn't have a website. You can google his name & TV7 to find his email address, I wasn't fond of posting someone's email due to spambots that might pick it up. There was a reason there was no links...

OK on Daniel , I had guessed since you made a deal to DIY you would have told him about a video . But your also doing some stuff / business , and no details on contacting . It's too bad , that there is so much bs out there these days that normal communication is messed up , 1st time here . Lots of others seem to still manage , with something to lead to ? Thanks again

That thing is really gorgeous until you open it up, then it’s just a spooky mess. Not really, thanks for this video, it was really great!

It's a bit silly really he is limiting his ability to make a greater profit! Cost of shipping a device like that and the chance of it getting damaged it's just not worth it. As you say sell it with some instructions on how to install it should be fine not too difficult. And if he had a round LCD screen and displayed it as a analogue display would keep it more traditional

I did a quick search and it looks like he did sell these through eBay a couple of years back, albeit without the plate current option. An LCD screen would have just made it more expensive, and also has issues with viewing angle, etc. To come up with a dual display (analog and digital readout) may have even required having a custom LCD made. I found this site where someone homebrewed a digital display for a TV-7, it could probably be adapted for other tube testers as well.I'm going to fab one up for my Jackson 645 that I had to put a replacement meter in, but am not 100% happy about the way it came out. www.arizona-am.net/misc_files/TV7MeterB.htm
