Is there a reason why the hole for the transducer cable was drilled on the port side and exited on the starboard side? Was something beneath the deck in the way?
@NavarreKayakFishingАй бұрын
There was no particular reason. I’m not sure why I went that direction other than it’s where I was standing.
@928johnralph3 жыл бұрын
Nick, one complaint. You actually need two sets of the Hobie three hole kit that you like to. It only comes with one hole cover

What kind of fasteners do they use on the cable? And how do they work the one that gowls into the rudder for steering

Great vid Nick - do you know if there are any other transducers that can do side/downscan that will fit in that location for the Salty? Lowrance doesn't seem to.

Great video Nick, I see the value of having the screen closer to you, does it interfere with paddling in shallow water?

I like to mount it on the ram system so I can swivel it out of the way if needed - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqTbYXeae9qBadE

Hey Nick, which would be the correct scupper mount for a Helix 7 mega SI transducer? It would be going onto a Salty. Thanks
@NavarreKayakFishing2 жыл бұрын
You would need the “Humminbird” version. Mention you need the salty topper in the note section at checkout and we will make sure you receive it.

Can you provide a link to your ball mount setup for the fish finder display? I plan on getting the 93SV.

This video has the information required (it’s for a 1” ball though you may want to pump up to a 1.5” ball setup for the 9” screen) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqTbYXeae9qBadE

@@NavarreKayakFishing Do you know what outrigger setup people have been using for the ball mount setup?

"small and less complicated means it has less ways to break" I wish more engineers understood this. Looking at you Volkswagen Auto Group XD
@jameseason99493 жыл бұрын
Nick, could you make a gear track that fits the Salty, going from the back screw to the middle one outside the tankwell in the back? Could be used to mount a flag, your anchor pin solution, etc. Would it be reliable cutting across that back corner?
@Backlashed Жыл бұрын
So Guess you need to use a thu hull with screws like Yak Attack since you cant reach the inside of the kayak, like you would need for a Hobie or Wilderness thu hull install
@NavarreKayakFishing Жыл бұрын
Hobie makes a three way thru hull that works perfect and is the one I prefer.

Do you leash your monitor down or just rely on the inch/inch and half ball and cables?
@NavarreKayakFishing3 жыл бұрын
I’ve never leashed it.

What size bit did you use for the pilot holes?
@NavarreKayakFishing2 жыл бұрын
I don’t recall off hand. I would use something about half the size of the screw you are using.

Thank you Nick! I have the same kayak and the same Garmin unit with the GT-51. I will watch this video many times and follow your advice and techniques. I have your scupper mount system but do I need to order a different one for the large transducer? I believe that’s what you indicated. I’ll probably mount on the port side hand grip as I’m a lefty caster and want to keep the starboard side free and clear. There’s no issue with the rudder steering control, right? I should be forward of that area? You keep all plastic cutouts and the drill shavings? Have you ever had to use them for repairs of any kind? Thanks again. Very timely for me.

Great Job! I live in New Orleans and I am planning on getting a Big Water for Lake Pontchartrain! The lake gets rough fast with waves 1 - 4 feet high "Close Together!" in fishable conditions! I weigh 250#. Do you think the Big Water is the way to go? Thanks!

It doesn’t void the warranty. If you drill a hole somewhere that causes an issue they won’t warranty it though.
