It's been six months since I started working on this stone beauty. This is the thirteenth episode about the renovation of an old house from 1957 last century. I finally prepared one room and made walls, floor, and heating. It is no longer a problem to stay at my property for a few days. I can keep warm, I can cook and I have a place to sleep. In this episode, you will see the creation of a ceramic floor in imitation of wood. I chose ceramics for a simple reason, it is easy to maintain. I am also installing an old cast iron stove, the so-called The Queen, which I bought at the second-hand market.

OMG this is coming out awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make sure you put a 1/4-inch gap under the wood wall so it does not touch the concrete. Then fill with backer rod and 100% silicone. Moisture will transfer from the wood touching the concrete and rot your walls over time if you don't. Also where the stone wall meets the wood it will crack. You have to fill this joint with a backer rod too and a flexible sealant. Also, next time grind the slab to a concrete surface profile of 3, prime with MAPEI PH blocker so all your grout over time will not change color from the salt in the soil leaching up, level to 1/8th within 6 feet, and then install tile. I am a stone and tile inspector etc

That is a gorgeous wood stove! This is so much fun to watch and I’m glad you’re taking the time to film. We have a lot of home renovation shows on TV (at least in the US) but most have constant generic electric guitar music and show hosts bickering over manufactured drama. And then every house comes out looking the same in the end. Your show is so much better and your house will be one-of-a-kind for sure!

I worked in a Resort 12 years ago and we replaced a lot of wood flooring using these wood like ceramic tiles they look good and are so much easier to maintain that wood. Following your weekly adventures working on this old stone house has been awesome wondering what's next is the best part of next Friday seeing what you have done fantastic workmanship
