Looks very well thought out and great build quality but it does look overly complicated and expensive imo. I’ve been running a 4 tier Momotaro Bakki shower with 100% BHM for the last 18 years and I’ve kept it simple with an adapted skimmer and pumping 7,000 gallons an hour (turnover the pond once an hour).
@thekoichannel2643 жыл бұрын
Hi Geoff, I intrigued how you would have done it differently and with less cost without using a plastic shower? Iv seen the mommotaro way of pumping straight from a skimmer but I know someone who did that and after a lot of issues with crud buildup he fitted a drum in front of it. My goals with the design were to find a way of getting sufficient clean water to put over it, have it away from the pond and incorporate a protein skimmer. It might look complicated but when you think about it it’s just a tank with a shower over it and a pump sucking from a tray instead of from a skimmer. I’m not sure if you have seen my first Vlog but I explain most of my reasonings in that 👍 kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3TOiIVqltyIrsk

well done. your channel should spike up really fast. Objective and to the point. keep it that way. maybe you can elaborate a little further on the installation such as the pumps an tubing and prices for parts would be a good bit of info for whom is considering doing similar. please do mind the music level as i had to lower volume every time music cued in. thank you

Literally just about to start putting together part 2 in which I’ll go into a bit more detail on how it’s set up and my findings with it. Interesting with the music, all of my devices play on it back at a nice level in sync with the vocals but on my friends Samsung phone it’s way too loud, not sure how I would combat it 🤔

Hi Frank really enjoying the vids and the technical knowledge is very helpful. I had s couple of questions about your pond. How do you find maintenance because it is built into the ground. I want something similar but have a bad back so wanted to pick your brains about it.
@thekoichannel2643 жыл бұрын
The there isn’t really anything to do as the filters are all self cleaning. The only real maintenance I do is once a week I turn off the drum and run my finger around the rubber seal and then use brush on the underside of the waste shoot to clean off any debris and then follow up with a hose down of the inside of the drum and shoot. Other than that it’s just a case that of emptying the skimmer basket every few days 👍

just quick question. how does water from Drum to BAKKI designed? pumping water from drum or just by gravity? cuz i see your feed line is above your pond water level.

Love your videos and have even watched some of them a couple of times. My only question is about the rubber boots (which you have a lot of). Are you planning to bury the rubber in the ground? Is there a brand which lasts longer than others as I have heard that some can split (although I have no experience of this)?
@thekoichannel2643 жыл бұрын
Hi there, glad you like the videos. Iv never had any crack or fail. I think there is a lot of cheep nasty ones that are a slightly different rubber and over time they go brittle. Also some do it due to sunlight but they are something I’ll keep an eye on. As for the one in the ground, the rubber jointers are often used under ground and last years but like anything it’s something that once in a blue moon I’ll get my spade out and give it a check 👍
@countrykoipond3 жыл бұрын
@@thekoichannel264 thanks mate. Just spent the whole bank holiday trying and failing to swap a rubber boot for a PVC union but I couldn't get the union tight enough to hold water as the pipes didn't align 100%. Decided to go back to the rubber and left a cavity to enable me to check it from time to time.

Nice concept Frank and nice installation work. What sort of increase in flow are you expecting to be able get with your tank recycling? Secondly, any reason why the tank concept would not work pond-side with a weir exit? Obviously you would not get the up-pipe benefit.
@thekoichannel2643 жыл бұрын
Hi Deejay, I’m only on a single bottom drain so without the tank I would only have around 18,000 an hour to put over it which would be nowhere near enough, with this method I’d say realistically the pumps are putting 45,000 liters an hour over it. As far as a weir exit, yer you could do the same thing but have a weir at the top of the bottom tank. In an idea world I would have had 2 drains and then there would be no need to have to do it but didn’t no anything about ponds when I first build the pond 👍
