Welcome to another episode of my fueling disaster. In this video, I install a Precision Raceworks preassembled low pressure fuel pump. Unfortunately, it seems I probably have gotten a defective unit. Robert from PR was kind enough to reach out to me via social media to help out the situation. The pump is off to them to diagnose and hopefully it'll be back soon. They're also gonna be taking care of the 034 pump, so if anyone is in market for a preassembled LPFP let me know!
As frustrating as these situations are, we just gotta push through and move on, cause what else can we do?

I just had a client which installed a Hellcat 525LPH low pressure fuel pump. It took some work to make the pump work and a lot of trimming etc. Long story short…by logging it via VCDS…the pump can’t keep up. It runs out of fuel very quickly…the reason for this is because the stock controller cannot handle it. The wires is physically not capable of handling the extra amps / current. The only route to get the full potential out of this low pressure fuel pump upgrades are via an aftermarket controller example PM4/PM5 controller. The wires are much thicker and gets power straight from the battery.

Have you read for faults? Ideally you need to make software adjustments for these pumps to work correctly - or use a PM4 etc, at idle these pumps will be producing much more pressure than a standard pump and the ECU’s paddy out over it, you’re in danger of frying your stock fuel controller too as these pumps will draw way more current than the factory setup and fuse will take Hope you get it sorted!

yeah, the tune accounts for all upgraded pumps. the only faults im getting is the low rail pressure and low rail during start. hopefully she be running right soon.

@@nickvu5429 did you replace the hpfp as well i am having a fuel cuts at wot on e30 trying to figure out whats going on. All my fuel preasures look normal. But around 5500 rpm i get fuel cut.

@@surfjujitsu2456 check your rail pressure and rail pressure target. if it takes a dump, your HPFP may be going out. what’s the ethanol percentage you’re at? too much e can also cause problems with stock hpfp

@@nickvu5429 my rail pressure target is 3100 rp is 2900 e content is e30 i am on eqt stage 2 e30. The preasure slightly drops when the issue happend. Jut trying to figure out why.

If this doesn’t fix it I’d pull the hpfp and see if it’s seized. I just went through this same problem with “low fuel rail pressure” after my hpfp install. My hpfp from autotech was seized. Sent my logs to Nick and decided I was going to pull the hpfp to check. It was seized in place with the spring fully compressed

pretty sure it was seized as i swapped it 2 days ago and the car works properly now!

Is the new pump suppose to come with a new float? I bought mine and it didn’t wondering if that’s normal? If so do I transfer the one on the car please let me know

no float on the new one, you transfer it over like in the video

Man I kinda wanna get a 450 for my mk7 GLI but if its pre assemebled and NOT just drop in and forget it...its not worth the 800$ or whatever they charge

Hey man, did you put a PM4 or any other type of LPFP controller or is it just a factory connection with the Walbro LPFP?

just the factory controller as it’s enough to handle the 450

Has anyone else had issues with their stock low pressure fuel pump going bad? I think mines starting to fail because when I go to start the car up when it’s hot it will stall sometimes but most of the time it just feels like it’s going to stall then jumps back to normal idle

check rail pressure vs rail pressure set point. also see if the RP increases of shutting off. if it doesn’t hold or increases for a sec then leaks, you have a problem.
