So I think all of these adaptors have their issues. For instance the first real long run with this it disconnected and I had to turn the bike off and on again. I have a ottocast (so I could run Android) and half the time it does not connect the first go, I have to shutdown my bike and restart. Now to answer your question, I like having it wireless. My Iphone, if it gets wet or detects moisture it disables the charging port. I hope this solves the issue. Everything works the same once setup though. Stock works though so it is a personal preference.

I can confirm that it does NOT work with Android auto. I just tried to connect a Android phone to it. It pairs but does not do anything at the screen. I guess this may work to get you what you need.
