Ha dude. Too many times have i wired up a recep, at a normal speed. And later found out the circuit was never off. I was always like win? Maybe? But yeah, i was taught the same. Wire up every recep like its hot. Good call

Spot on. I started in the trade as the attic rat helping my dad back around 1958, i was 7 or 8. He taught me same as you. All work is hot, ever if you knew other wise. Tape outlets today 64ish years later.

If you all American Electricians practice to sleeve your bare grounds, you won't have to tape the live and neutral terminals of the receptacle outlet.

I've been doing a lot of that work lately 😮! Glad I'm not the only one who constantly works on stuff hot😅 also I had got my arm or hand stuff in a wall to before!

Don’t even care if it’s hot anymore. And that’s not fun getting stuck!

@@electricianjoe if I'm careful it won't bite me lol, how about getting in a tight spot in attic or craw space? I usually just stay there a bit because I dread trying to get out😂

I need to install an old work box, with the top and bottom tabs that hold it to drywall, that will house a new light switch. There are two double studs on either side of the opening I cut out for the work box. If I notch about 1/8 inch off the left stud and right stud, I can tightly fit the work box in between the studs. Is it okay to do this, as the box will indeed fit but will be tightly wedged in between the two studs?
