In this video I am showing how to install a security camera under a eave. I'm installing this camera in with a vinyl soffit and showing how to keep the wires hidden. I touch on other scenarios with some helpful tips and tricks that should help you with your install. It's a pretty easy job but will require some patience.
Here's some of the things used in the video:
Fiberglass rod set:

Dude, this video is gonna save me so much time! You answered all my questions I had about getting the wires into the soffit and whatnot. thank you so much! I got tired of dealing with batteries on my blink cameras so I bought really long USB power cables and I'm going to wire them up.

I did a word search for removing the soffit to run the PoE cable. Yours is the first to show and to look for the nail that holds it in place. I will be looking for that and go from there. Thanks for the info. I will email this link to myself. : )

More easily said than done, if you have continuous gutter around the home it will be heck trying to pull that facia to access the soffit. That's the video i want to see.

Have a hip roof with trusses and impossible to climb through, let alone run cable.
@TheHomeImprovementChannel
@TheHomeImprovementChannel 8 ай бұрын
That's what this roof is.... There should be a space between the top of the wall and the roof where the rafters/ trusses run through and the cable will easily go through..

If you know how to wire circuits. I cut all the plugs off and figured out the power wires red/black for Cam & Wireless power and using the power supply it works great! I just used 2 wire conductor cable, soldered connectors to camera pc board, beats drilling big holes.

How can I run wire when I have zero attic space ? Thought I could just run the wire around the house but , can't go more than 250ft . So I have to figure out how to run it .... Help !
@TheHomeImprovementChannel
@TheHomeImprovementChannel 2 жыл бұрын
Zero attic space as in its very short? Or literally no attic access at all? I can't see your house so it's really hard to tell the best path. Every house is different. Are you on 1 floor? Do u have a eave? Vinyl siding? Need way more info😊😊

Hey, excellent video. I have a back-split house. How do I bring the CAT wiring from one attic to another attic? Drilling in drywall? I'm unsure of what to do.
@TheHomeImprovementChannel
@TheHomeImprovementChannel 2 жыл бұрын
Good question! I can't see your situation. Every house will be different. You'll have to look for an area in the attic where both roofs are in common. OR one is on top of the other. In that case there should be a way to drill through the plywood without coming out through the shingles! An obvious give away would be the shingle nails. You probably won't see shingle nails in those areas unless the 2nd roof was put on as an addition and wasn't part of the original house..

@@TheHomeImprovementChannel Good suggestion, I don't have enough electrical/DIY knowledge to appreciate what you said in its entirety but I sorta get it hahahha. xD But I think I'm thinking wrong... why am I looking to merge the wires in the attic space by drilling through walls? I should just merge the wires from the 1st floor attic to the 2nd floor attic from the outside using conduit, from one soffit panel to the other. Am I onto something? The conduit would be between 1-1.5m I believe, not too much.
@TheHomeImprovementChannel
@TheHomeImprovementChannel 2 жыл бұрын
@@ufchistorian13 Yes absolutely that would work. If you have vinyl siding, you can pull the siding and feed the wire underneath. I have to caution you on that. If you're not familiar with how to put vinyl siding back together it can be a real pain to get it back together!... Did I mention it could be a pain?.. 😂😂
