Great video. As a complete beginner to 12v, it is something that is somewhat difficult to find to the point instructional videos like this. Thank you for making it simple.

Good vid. Something I wish you'd emphasised was that when you're pushing on the flexible conduit that it MUST pass through the hole you drilled in the aluminium storage. If the wires are just passing through the hole in the metal and then entering the conduit the vibrations will short them out in no time. While on the topic, you really ought to put an inline fuse or circuit breaker in the positive line as close as practical to the battery too.

Agree completely....thats a long length of positive wire which isn't fused. This is dangerous.

Wow, just woke, thanks for the knowledge mate! Can you send a link for the next video? Can’t find it in your playlist.

Just a couple things. -fuse at battery -why not use a red buzz bar -grommet where wire exit box through aluminium -I would put a negative buzz bar in there too -probably should have mentioned how to apply loads. -and non ratcheting crimp tools are garbage.

Hi, thanks for all the great info, what connector did you use to extend the black neg wire from panel going back to battery, or did you solder it? Is all the wiring you used 4mm twin core? Thanks

Nice video, I like the way you connected the battery to the panel switch. I will be using a fuse block instead of the buss bar. Just like you I am using the battery box and mounting the shutoff on that box. I do have a question, how you are going to connect the key switch and the outboard to the battery.

HI Anthony, our Motor is just a manual start "pull cord" so we didn't have to worry too much about that when connecting our outboard to the battery. If you were to have an electric start same thing applies to installing anything to the battery. Positive to the switch and Neg to the battery. It would be slightly different again if you were to have dual battery system.

You must install an inline fuse as CLOSE as possible to the battery ie between battery terminal and battery switch. What happens if you get a short in the circuit before the inline fuses you have on the switch panel ?

Excellent video, well done. Can you please supply details of which battery box you used and the gauge of wire for each application.

Hi Chris, here's a link to the battery box we used- www.outbackequipment.com.au/battery-box-standard and in terms of wire, we used 4mm twin core sheath tinned wiring.

@@OutbackEquipment Hi guys, thanks very much for the info and timely reply.

Any reason why no negative bus bar? Do you have all accessory negatives running to the battery?
@sneezer0711 ай бұрын
Yes all negs are back to the battery. I'm going to go with a neg bus bar instead.

Do not use automotive connectors in a marine environment. They will not last long.
