As an a electrician , you should write disclaimer that your install is not to be used as an example on how to do this , as you have so many code violations on this video, not sure how you see this as a safe install, people out there please hire a licensed electrician to do this right for you , don't cheap out, you already spent 50k plus on your ride. protect your house and your ride

@@xjinit there are people you hire to do these things (that’s why they called licensed ) if you can get your license watching KZbin videos , instead of going to school and working on the field we’d be in real trouble , so it’s not necessary to explain what or how to do it right ,only to say that if you don’t know what you’re doing (specially in electric , don’t don’t it )

@@roygozlan04 News flash for you, school is thing of the past being replaced by the internet(KZbin.) Don't tell me you don't learn anything on KZbin, that would make you a liar. You also dont need to be "licensed" to setup a basic 6-50 or 1450 EV outlet for your house. Setting up a new construction 480V 3 Phase system on a commercial building is another story.

I did this installation too, a much simpler installation in the garage, into the wall and down to the basement. The directions indicate you should wrap the wires around the right of the box so if the wires enter from the bottom wrap the wires and insert them from the top. Also, the directions indicate that you should use a torque screw driver to apply 50 foot lbs to keep the wires from slipping out. Also directions say wrap the cable counter clockwise but interesting putting the charger down the driveway. I am impressed if he did all that in one day.

I think its great you spending time with your son. I'm pretty sure you knew how the charging and wifi update needed to be done. But teaching your son and letting him walk you through it takes patience and means your a great teacher. I have a hard time letting my boys teach me anything especially when I know more than them about the subject. I wish I had that skill. lol

I expect there are variations in local codes. But I have on many occasions seen 200A service brought into a home via schedule 80 PVC pipe. Perhaps your statement might be true, but there must be some specifics about it. Obviously that's not true as a generality so maybe clarify? Also not sure why you think moist soil will break it.

It's supposed to be 4 wires: two positives, a neutral, and a ground. Dude has 3 wires and used the white neutral for ground. He dug too shallow; it's supposed to be 18 inches deep.

I am a licensed electrician who has done countless TESLA charger installs and i am a certified TESLA charger installer. This guy is a hack and don’t follow what this guy does. His trench is no where deep enough, the breaker he used is first of not the right style of breaker for that panel, and it is also oversized for the wires he used, his trench is not deep enough, his conduit is not built right at all, there is nothing wrong with the screws and bit that comes with the charger, they also wrap the cord too tight around the charger, they are going to short it out soon or damage the wire. This guy should not have done this and should not be encouraging other people to so it this way.

And we found the guy who changed a light fixture and thinks he's an electrician. The NEC is code written in blood. There is a reason behind everything in there. Clearly you are clueless. I fancy myself a pretty handy guy, built a few houses from wooded lots, M.S of Elec. Eng from MIT.....I wired up my solar system and battery to what I thought was perfect, had my buddy who's a Master Elec. come look at it and found a few errors I'd made myself and things I'd overlooked. I have him check and big wiring changes in my houses....Piece of mind that my kids not going to grab onto an accidentally electrified conduit or pipe.

The worst violation I saw was the mixing and matching of circuit breakers, which is an actual fire Hazard. I spot at least 3 different brands in there, including the GE he installed that doesn't look like it even fits properly. That said, it's his property so he can do what he wants to it. I just feel sorry when I run into future homebuyers who end up paying the price for a previous owner's handy work.

The kid was partially correct. It did not begin charging due to the fact that you had a scheduled charge time set on the car's display. Meaning the car will only charge at that specified time, even if it is plugged in. The wife might have set that up and didn't tell everyone else. This is usually done in areas where it is cheaper to charge at night, say, at midnight. To test it in the future, regardless of scheduled charging time, enter the car and tap "start charging" on the screen and it will manually start to charge, no matter the time of day. Good install.
