Been trying to make this happen the past 2 year and here i find someone figuring it out for me! I ran into a few issue with autosport and personally wouldn't recommend them, but glad this shifter worked out for you. This was a few years ago and I see he's made some changes.

Thanks for this video! I didn't realize I would have to shave down the indent pins. I was wondering why 1-2 and 5-6 were so hard to reach. I thought the CD009 was just that tight. I'm going to go adjust it now. Thanks.

Great video- I have referenced this video multiple times! :) By any chance do you happen to know the part numbers of the CHECK SPRING AND BALL BEARING that is removed from the top of the shifter location? Bought transmission from someone and never provided that :( thank you!
@ForsakenSteel2 ай бұрын
Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I don't have those part numbers. If it were me I would go to a Nissan dealership and let them pull up an exploded diagram. Then you can just point it out and pay for it.

Does your shifter feel tight? Going left to right doesnt give much room for changing gears. I shaved the detents an 1/8th but it just doesnt give much wiggle room for 1-3-5 shifting
@ForsakenSteel Жыл бұрын
Yes it was tight. I also cut the detent at first then I ended up cutting both detent springs. That is what made the most impressive. I can't remember which side but one of them I cut a lot more than the other. Let me know if this works for you.

By nature, this shifter simply can't have much movement side to side. The cup is too close to the ball that the rod rotates on, much closer than even short shift kits for the factory shift location. After I did all the required modifications, and visually confirmed there is no fouling, I clamped a vice grip to the remaining bit of shaft sticking out the back and I can see the pliers moving quite a bit whereas my shift knob doesn't move much. I also watched the shift forks move and engage the gears, as well as compare output speed. I am indeed hitting all 7 gears. There's def a learning curve to this shifter, but it appears to be the only option for those of us who chose a long transmission for a custom swap lol. The longer your shift rod is, the better it will "feel" side to side, with the trade off of a ridiculously long forward/backward throw. I also reached out to the fabricator about the thread pitch for the offset adapter, as I need to make a straight adapter, and was told he gets the adapters pre-made, with a one-off thread (0.715" x .059") that he matches on his lathe. It turns out this is close enough to an M18x1.5 that an M18 nut spins on with ease, if not a tiny bit loose. So if you need to make an adapter, use an M18x1.5 and the supplied aluminum jam-nut to secure it.

I had a lot of time messing around with this shifter. I do get it going into all gears. However spoiler alert this transmission is junk and needs rebuilt. I actually made an extension for the shifter to locate the shifter in the proper location in the console. Thanks for watching and commenting.

@@ForsakenSteelThat's the gamble with used CD transmissions. I've got a CD001 from an 04, low miles so maybe I'll get lucky, but I expect to be ripping it apart and installing triple cone synchros in the future.
@ForsakenSteel11 ай бұрын
I think I'm going to pull this one and rebuild it in the future. Mine is actually a CD001 also but I didn't even know how to tell when I bought it. I currently have so many things going on I can't even imagine when I'll have time to build it.

Do you have a lot of play in your firewall when you press your clutch pedal in?
@ForsakenSteel2 жыл бұрын
I don't know I've not gotten that far yet. I believe there are some companies that make bracelets for that though.
@dmccarthy4132 жыл бұрын
@@ForsakenSteel yeah so I drilled the holes for the clutch master and used Hawks pedals. I made a bracket out of thin sheet metal and formed it on the inner firewall and just a little over the wheel well. I will rivet it on the firewall and the wheel well in two spots. I think I’m going to take my bracket and have it fabled up to be thicker because it still has some flex. Let me know when you get to that point and I will fill you in on my progress.

I was wondering where are you putting the spacer where you are taking about it not going into reverse
@ForsakenSteel2 жыл бұрын
It goes under the actual shifter. From what I understand it is not needed on most of the transmissions. I believe it's just the early model transmissions that need it.

@@ForsakenSteel When you say under the shifter are you talking about where the center is, Where the plastic/Nailon where the ball or the shifter is or you talking about the plate that bolts to the transmission, Sorry for so many questions, Thank you for any help I really appreciate it

It bolts between the shifter plate and the transmission. The 6 bolt plate. Hope that helps

Why use the cd009 a t56 would be easier won’t it
@ForsakenSteel4 ай бұрын
Well I had been looking for a used T56 that didn't have 200,000 miles for a long time. I saw that drift guys were using these behind LS engines and thought that should work. I Looked a lot on the Internet and didn't see anyone putting one in a third gen. Now after all the work I know why. I would not recommend it to anyone else. Thanks for watching!
@Shouganaigarage2 ай бұрын
it would be easier but a cd009 with adapter parts and do all this done to it is still cheaper and stronger than an off the shelf t56 magnum. Then by some odd chance you do break one you can get another for like 800 dollars and swap everything over. I'm doing the cd009 swap in an 86 monte carlo now and its not too difficult.
