Installing AWT Scales on my Para 3 Lightweight

When I need to grip a barrel with pliers I always use a thick piece of rubber band for additional grip and protection.

my spy27 para 3 came with slight lockstick like that too where it clicked when i pushed it in. What fixed it was cleaning it very well with alcohol so there was no lubricant and allowed it to wear in. After about an hour of fidgeting it was perfect. I tried oil and Graphite(separately) first and both only made it worse.

My Para 2 (not the lightweight) was a little stiff when I got it. Had to adjust the pivot just a hair, now it runs beautifully. Good video, Doody. Thanks

AWT transformed my PM3 lw too. Super snappy and solid. For some reason did more for this model than my PM2.

I love my P3 LW, even with the off center blade and FRN scales it’s a great little blade but the AWT scales really kick it up a notch or two ❤ For anyone looking at getting them I would recommend getting a lynch clip to replace the wire one because the wire clip moves so much that it’ll wear a hole in the cerakote that you can see even while the clip is attached, I can’t understate how ugly it looked lol - so bad that I just ended up buying a new set and put the lynch clip on it from the get go (which I do with all coated aluminium/wire clip knives now) Apart from that they’re fantastic! Also I absolutely love that CTS BD1-N steel so don’t feel like you NEED a super steel. I always intended to get another lightweight in a “better” steel but the BD1-N has grown on me so much that I no longer have any desire to do so

awt scales remove the liner, and add a 2nd washer to make the build 'symmetric'. this is why they can help with off-centered blades

I don’t understand how you fixed this?? I’m having the same problem on my rec exclusive para 3… got awl scales and mine has super bad lock stick when I changed it out so I tried to back off the lock bar a bit and now I got blade play up and down. So gutted tbh mate it’s looks and feels so much better with these scales but I might have to go back to the frn.

FWIW Eric Glesser has said that blades from the lightweight SHOULD work with the G10 scales and vise versa. No guarantee but personally I would feel comfortable trying it. Also, there’s only one washer because the scales are made of nylon, so they made one of the scales really smooth in order to act like a nylon washer. If nobody claims that blade I’ll buy it off of you. I snapped the tip off of my s30v para 3 and ground it down to a stubby tanto but would love to have a full blade again lol.

This might be the way to go rather than Para 3 G10...... Theres only 1 or 2 makers of lightweight scales that I know... and theyre not cheap... in the end its almost the same price as a g10 version... What you reckon is the difference???

I think this route ends up being a little more expensive because these scales are about $100. But totally worth it, they feel so good

Anyone tried adding a second washer to the lightweight? Mine is way off center to the point it’s almost rubbing the blade on the other side. Just wondering if adding a second would center it up better if it would fit.

I don’t have a Para 3 but am rocking AWT on my PM2 and they are definitely great scales. I will say though, in your shoes I am pretty sure I’d be sticking with that dark Ti hardware as I think that looked pretty sick even with a satin blade. But it’s your jam and very cool of you to be passing the blade and hw on!🫵🏼👊🏼

Bought some AWT scales for my Manix after watching your video, they’re fantastic. I did break the tip off my Para 3, not sure if you still have the old blade but I would love to take it off your hands if you do
