Do you have to set the tile the same day that you install the Permat? Or can you just do the permat and then come back the next day to install the tile?

With this membrane you are better coming back the next day to set tile.

How does the Blanke permat compare with Ditra. I usually see you installing Ditra under floor tile.

teh60 They are two different membranes.Permat is meant for going over a single layer of 3/4”tongue and groove plywood when you want to install stone tile.Stone tile requires a lot stiffer substrate (less deflection). This membrane also allows you to install any size tile.Standard uncoupling membrane usually have a minimum size of a 2”x2” tile.

Permat costs almost twice as much as the others but it can't be matched in strength and speed of installation.

Newby here: So forgive my 'innocent questions;. At 3:10 onwards, I see you directly applied thinset on plywood. Did you not have to use self leveling compound ? I have seen some videos of ceramic/porcelein on plywood subfloor, most do use some sort of self levelling compound. Is this compound not needed with Blanke Permats ?Thanks

mihir1310 ask any question your have.Here to help. The self leveling material is only need if the substrate need flattening.The substrate was flat.

@@KeePReeLing WOw! Thanks for the quick reply. Whats the best way to measure 'flatness' ? I had a water leak damage from the fridge, which seeped under the laminate. The contractors threw away the laminate & replaced half of the subfloor of the kitchen ( God bless homeowner's insurance!!) . I do feel this part is flat as its brand new. Im a bit worried about the region where the new planks share edges with old. Im thinking of DIYing new ceramic tiles with Blanke underneath, I want to make sure if need self leveling or no. Any advice would help !!! THANKS again

Would this be a good choice to put on a concrete flooe followed by radiant floor heating?

Interesting . Why would you want to put permat on a concrete slab ?

@@Dtileandremodeling I've been told and read that if your working with a concrete floor and tile, if you want radiant floor heating to work well, you need to create a thermal barrier between concrete floor and heating element so alot of the heat isn't wasted going down into the concrete and instead, it travels up onto your tiles, where you want it. Believe me, I don't want to spend anymore money and would rather not do this.

Never used titanium. Is it stickier than platinum?

Jon Bellavance they are different.I personally don’t like 254,it’s harder to trowel.257 is a breeze to trowel and yes very very sticky!!

Dude titanium sticks to glass and stainless steel. It's the only thing that is stickier than platinum but it's lighter and way, way easier to trowel. It's like trowelling whipped cream.
