Another trick, I put a metal fishing swivel on the door and another swivel on the end of the string to connect the door to the string, but easy to quickly disconnect it if needed. I need to disconnect it from time to time at my place. Blessings.

I know this is an older video, but I'm wondering how your Chicken Guard Door Opener has held up? I'm thinking about getting one in about two weeks. Also, what happens if that string breaks? Thank you!

Does that premium one come with the locking door?

What was the plastic liner you used? I have a similar challenge on mine and that looks like a nice solution!

hi sarah just thought i would let you now that we used corrugated plastic and thumb turn latches to hold them on up so it makes it easier to take off in the summer

Well done andy, I’d of sanded it tho lol we have something similar for ours but it’s always worth checking that they have all gone away, maybe a CCTV camera installed so you can see they have all gone away.

Tristam Mayes yeah I was saying sand it but looks like that’ll be our plan B in case Andys system fails 😄 liking the idea of CCTV though

Sarah Kirby cctv for you will be easy as Andy is a genius and loves that sort of thing, 1 camera in the coop and 1 outside so you can see any predators at night taking a interest in the chickens.

have enjoyed watching this series a couple of things i have noticed why did you not put the coop and run onto a concrete it makes cleaning so much easier especial if you intend to let them out when your around and drier under foot when wet also what sort of wood chips have you used are they soft or hard wood as i have been told my many breeders that soft wood chips should not be used as they contain mold spores under the bark that can cause breathing problems in chickens also also you may need to move the nest boxes as when they roost on the perches above they will poop in the boxes and this can lead to messy eggs i'm liking the pink accessorizes i don't know about the girls as all chickens i've ever know have hated pink you may be lucky you may also whant to think about some sort of covering for part of the run like under the house so they have somewhere to go to get out of the wind and rain keep the vlogs coming

Sally B thanks for your comments Sally! I didn’t put the coop onto concrete because we didn’t want to have to do any major work of that kind and only have grass area. I also really that it makes it easier for bugs to come up from ground to help eat away at their poop etc. Think it may be called the deep litter method. The chippings are hard wood chip which are supposed to last well over long periods of time. Good point about the nest boxes, they’re easy to move around and that’s just where I’ve put them for now but plenty of space so not an issue! Hopefully they’ll like pink as they were the more expensive accessories 🤞🏻 Yes I’ll have to maybe think about putting something up along the sides underneath the house bit for additional shelter. Any ideas what I could use? I guess ideally it would need to be see through? Thanks for watching! X

Great job guys. Just needs wiring into the solar panel system now lol. Be interesting to see how long those batteries last.

They're supposed to last over a year from what I read... who knows though. I'd say change once in fall and once in spring and you'll be great!

The door difficulty may be caused because the door frame is out of square, easy to check.
