Why the noise in the attic antenna?

I'm guessing that burying the cable helps to quiet down your noise floor too.

Nice setup in just wondering about your lightning arrester, is that grounded at all.
@AmRadPodcast2 жыл бұрын
Yep. Got a bunch of ground rods now, but I’m sill nervous this being Florida. This past summer, if my lightning alarm went off, I unplugged just to be safe.

@@AmRadPodcast hey thanks for responding I’m still learning and in the same process myself of getting things setup, did you connect your grounding rods to your main house grounding rod?
@AmRadPodcast2 жыл бұрын
@@wesley20991 if I recall from the ARRL grounding and bonding book, you should connect to a rod at the arrestor, then bond it to the house rod as well.. of course with a wide flat (low impedance) connection.. I think DX engineering sells the stuff. I haven’t done that yet. Honestly the soil is so bad here for a vertical, I’m thinking about just switching to a retractable EFHW.. storm rolls in, so does the antenna.
