Dude! I like how the product link popped up on the screen. I'm going to have to figure out how to do that now.

It’s part of the steps when you upload your videos, called “products”. You can go back and do it in old videos too. 😁

Awesome Andy! Glad to know of the two washers trick on the shock bolts on top. I just put those same shocks on my 67 a month or so ago, but didn't do the Shelby drop like you did. Thanks for sharing. Cheers and blessings from Motown/Dearborn.

I’m not sure it’s the best way to do my suspension, but I’m really limited if I want my car this low without the use of coilovers. 😁

Stick a rubber hose on the bottom coil as an extra insulator. Probably not necessary but hopefully will keep it smooth and quiet

Hey Andy, with your help I was able to successfully get the spring centered in the perch. The only issue I have now is that I can’t get the shock to sit straight with the tower because the perch doesn’t tilt up enough. The only time it can be straight is when I jack up the drum and put weight on it as if it was sitting on the ground. Is this how I should install the shock? With weight on the car? I’m assuming if I install the shock and Assemble it with weight on the wheel it will hold it in place and pull the perch up via being bolted to the tower. Right now as it’s up on stands, the shock bolts don’t sit flush with the perch, only the back one nearest the car engine. The front one is like halfway through. THANKS A MILLION FOR YOUR RESPONSES AND VIDEOS

The shock can be a little difficult to align with the spring perch. If the top of the shock is mounted to the shower tower bracket, it is common to jack up the lower control, which in turn lifts the upper control arm, and allows for the spring perch to move into a better position to install the bottom of the shock. Otherwise, lift the lower control arm with a jack, install the bottom of the shock to the spring perch, then install the shock tower mount cap-piece and connect it to the top of the shock. I have a couple videos surrounding the front suspension between my two white Mustangs, hopefully there's something in there you can watch and see how I did it. :)

Hey what’s up Andy! I got a 71 Ford maverick and just got two new springs OEM matched. I got a lot of trouble centering it so I can’t get the shocks lined up straight. Would you recommend just chopping them to give myself a easier time lining up on the stiff perches? Like an inch or so
@AndyKruseChannel
@AndyKruseChannel 4 ай бұрын
Be careful when cutting your springs. If you have stock upper control arms, cutting a 1/2" of height off the spring will translate into an inch of drop because of the motion ratio of the UCA. Also, clocking the spring to align with the spring perch on the UCA should not be causing you as much trouble as you're experiencing. You might need to reach out to the boys over at VMF and see if they know why your spring is not aligning as expected. :)

@@AndyKruseChannel I appreciate it, just got the isolators I’m so I’m going to try over again. it was just difficult to line up I think because the compressor I’m using is one that latches to the top of the tower. I’m gonna be tackling it tomorrow afternoon

@@AndyKruseChannel yeah I just got the isolators so I’m gonna try aligning the springs better, should the end of the spring be almost flush on the inside of the perch tab? Line it up like that?

What was the reason for the grommet? Squeek, rattle, aligment, armageddon?
@AndyKruseChannel
@AndyKruseChannel 2 жыл бұрын
The top of the spring rides on the under side of the strut tower, metal to metal. This is not ideal for any application, and that's why these were installed from the factory. I wasn't experiencing any issues, but I have not put many miles on this car to begin to experience problems. It was something I should have done when I did the springs a year ago. :)

@@dandavis4306 If you have leafs springs in the rear, you don't cut them. You can purchase new springs with mid-eye (1 inch lower) or reverse-eye (2 inches lower) on the shackle end. Or you could do lowering blocks below the axle and above the leaf springs, which I've done as well.
