I always had a fun time trying to replace the valve cover gaskets, and they still leaked 😂 because I didn’t tighten them in the right order and bc the valve cover needed to be sealed more but, now it’s sitting in my drive way all depressed. Keep it up man

What are the torque specs for the cylinder head bolts
@NorthDakotaCarGuy7 ай бұрын
I highly suggest getting yourself a Haines Manual and going through the step-by-step process Because it's very important that you do it in a series and do it in the correct pattern. From what i found online, the Cylinder Head Bolts is 80 ft lbs. The Factory Service Manual says to torque them in 2 to 3 stages/steps

Distributor bolts 12mm?
@NorthDakotaCarGuy Жыл бұрын
It was so long ago I couldn't tell you. Sorry. If I had to guess I'd say they're probably more like 10mm or 8 for the cap and then most likely 12 for the mounts. Just make sure you mark where the mount is originally as it will change the timing

What did you use to scrub ??

For the rest I used very fine steel wool with lots of engine oil. If you have to do this be sure to use lots of engine oil so you don't scratch the cylinder wall. That would be very bad and could lead to ring failure. Take your time!

I bought one of these spyders for a flip and damn they are problematic
@NorthDakotaCarGuy Жыл бұрын
They can be a hit and miss for sure. Really depends on how the owners treat them.
