One thing they never talk about in these redecking videos is this; when you decide which side of the board goes up, look at the end grain. The curves of the grain should form a hump, not a valley. This way when they weather they cup up and shed water instead of cupping down and pooling water making rot occur quicker.

We tried this. It didn't work. Still cupped wrong way.

Hey this comment is identical to the comment you left on a few other vids. Its also identically just as one hundred percent correct aswell. 👌😁

I’ve read to not go to wide also prevents cupping. 6-8” is what ya want.

The wood block brace was something I learned from this video. Thanks Bro!

Overdone is always better than underdone. I'm the same way, if 6 screws per board are required then 6 bolts are even better. :)

How dare you call that beautiful makita a skill saw. That is not a skill saw. Beautiful job on the trailer. Great idea with the block of wood. Thanks for that.

Did you need a metal bit and a wood bit?

The only thing I've seen wrong with this install is you left no gap between the boards for expansion that's gonna be a problem down the road
@kenthompson3730 Жыл бұрын
He installed green wood. It’s going to shrink a bit as it dries and will leave a nice gap. Plenty of room to expand a little bit if it gets wet.

What kind of bolts are those? My trailer uses the exact same kind
@OldSoulMillennial4 жыл бұрын
these are called galvanized carriage bolts
@ShyRage14 жыл бұрын
@@OldSoulMillennial thank you for the response. They look easy to take off on my trailer. They are bolted down from underneath. I think I could just get rid of the old ones and replace with new using the same holes.

Worthless video. Exposed heads won't allow easy in/out of materials or raking.
@OldSoulMillennial3 жыл бұрын
Ignorant Comment. You can countersink the heads of the bolts by tightening up the nuts. I didn't want that. And raking? This is a open deck utility trailer, not a dump trailer numb nuts

I forget honestly, possibly 5/16 or 3/8. Either are PLENTY strong for this application. I do recommend galvanized carriage bolts
