Step-by-step guide to installing SOSS invisible hinges with hand tools. I show you how to make a template, cut your mortis, and get great results every time without a plunge router. (This video is not sponsored by SOSS. I am just a fan of their products.)

I was just about to start a small project doing a double opening bemch/dining table extension and had absolute blank mind how to install the hinges with limited tools. I have all the ones you used and your instructions were perfect. Thanks mate, i really appreciate your video. A big hello from Sydney Australia.

Yes please more instructional videos. I just got some of these hinges and searched KZbin for tips and tricks, and this video helped me. So thanks! …and carry on.

Loved this video! Super helpful, easy to understand and great video shots of the process. Also love the approach you chose to install the hinges using a hands on style. Refreshing over the typical craftsman flex of pulling out a dozen large expensive power tools to get a small job done. Keep the videos coming please!

This is by far the best woodworking book I have ever read, *TopFineWoodworking. Com* . My woodworking teacher endorses it to all of his students. I am impressed how authors managed to write very detailed topics. I`m surprised by the material and didn`t have a tough time following the lessons..

Michael: Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I have a single narrow frame we where were going to reluctantly mortise 2 butt hinges. All the other cabinet doors are hung with Blum concealed. Space restrictions on the 45 degree face frame ruled out the Blums. Only have to do 2 204 hinges, so this technique will get the job done! Nice walnut cabinet, BTW.

I have used these hinges on quite a few projects before but have always used a router jig to make the mortises. I am now in the midst of a desk build and considered using these but there would be no way to use a router. I had just given up on the idea and then you posted this... Thank you!

Well done! I'd encourage anyone unfamiliar with Soss hinges to learn how to use them for their best work. That's an exciting project you have going. I'll be eager to see your future videos on it and look to see what you've done on horizontal tambours. Making a nice, tight 10 minute video like this must be more difficult than those live-streamed time-wasters some of the guys are doing but I refuse to watch an extra 45 minutes of nonsense to discover their hidden gems.

All good stuff! For those that might not be quite as precise with their drilling and chiseling, I humbly recommend that you check out Sugatsune hinges. They don't come in quite as small sizes as the Soss, but they do have a broad range, and unlike Soss hinges, the Sugatsunes are three-way adjustable, which allows you to overcome slight positioning errors when cutting the mortices. For anyone thinking of using the BIG Soss hinges (room door size and above), I STRONGLY encourage you to check out the Sugatsune ones, as adjustment issues with large doors can be very painful with Soss hinges and their fixed geometry.
