After I cut the first peaceful to length, I used the scrap piece for practice. Very helpful.

You almost got it I do it in a way that I can cut it all and put it together on the bench all locked together when I make my 45 cut I leave 2 inches of channel to bend over but I leave the face and just snip off the rolled edge so I can slide it into the other piece witch locks the tap in tightly

I've watched him cut that notch out 100 times and I can't get it down! I have the same snips but I game make that turn. It looks like I chewed it off

What keep water from running behind the siding at the bottom of the j-channel on the sides? . If water runs down the j-channel It's got to come out somewhere.

I would think the siding piece above it right?

When did you cut the top piece so it had mitered corners? Very confusing.

Learn from my experience!! Stop at 0:29, cut the top piece 1-1/2"longer than the window width. (see my 0:45 comment) Stop at 0:37, note the left side is shorter that the right side, I found I needed to cut ~5/16" off after I made the 1" cut out to make it fit into the 45* cut. Stop at 0:45 if you cut a 45* angle, the rain tab will be less than 1", it will be 3/4" this is why you cut the top piece 1-1/2" wider than the window. I see Bob Harris had it right, but I think it is only for the top piece.

Shouldnt it be 1.5 inches longer than the window considering the j channel face width is 3/4 inch.
@lorifry34895 жыл бұрын
Not all the information is here. Yes this works for 1" wide J-channel but if you have 2.5" wide you need 5 extra inches not 2 as stated. And the rain tabs and slots are 2.5" each not 1" as stated.

Good method, but you made a mistake in your video. After cutting the rain channel for the right side, you flip to a piece that is already cut but it is for the bottom left side of the window instead of the bottom right side of the window. You inserted the wrong picture for a few seconds.

Only problem is that they don't lock together. If you leave an inch & a half or so on the ends & trim the hook off the outter edge, it will slide or snap into the joining piece & lock together. Like a pro yo!
@cambo69116 жыл бұрын
kosmosleha the finish edge of the J channel is rolled back about an 1/8 of an inch and will prevent the two pieces from slipping together. Imagine the top piece trying to slide into the side piece without a little room. You just snip the finished/ rolled edge so they slip together. Good luck!
