We just done ours and added 5t leaf which has 3 leaf’s per side . Omg there a little heavy . There is a front and back as we found out cos we had to take one off . The logo goes to the front on the ones we got . But we spent most of the time getting the u bolts out , they wanted to stay . But 6 hrs later and we had both sides done and it’s made so so much difference to the van . Prob the best job you can do for habdeling and ride . Great vid mate

Cheers guys love your channel🧡 I seen you were doing the same, more luck than chance I put the makers stamp to the front Overall what a massive difference it has made to the handling how's yours been? I've just added air assist to the rear axel I'm running it at 2bar it now floats over our potholed ridden quality UK road network 🤣🤣🤣 what a combination its also improve the stability in high winds and when cornering I'm up loading the video as we speak keep up the good work👍

@@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife we have not fitter the air on the rear and to be honest it handles that well I'm not going to bother mate , she rides so so goot , I am going to do the fronts but no rush on that one right now . and man our u bolts did not want to come out , they nearly beat me , NEARLY BUDDY NERLY LOL

Keeping those blocks of wood made me chuckle. I have a highly valuable collection of random blocks for the same purpose. Very handy. Thanks for the vids, learning a lot from them.👍

Definitely a job on my to do list because I'm sure mine is going to be overweight. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the job ;)
@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife3 жыл бұрын
I would say over 50% of the vans out there are overweight I pass loads in the lakes sat on there arse like dpd vans 🤣🤣🤣 I run mine with empty tanks at home and I'm at 3.4t when we head away loaded without water it's at 3.52t and fill up with water when we arrive by then we have used around 60% of our fuel so the water should take us back to around the 3.5 mark again once its up plated this won't be an issue I've been watching your build videos it coming along nicely feel free to post on our Facebook group page that's what is there for

As a mechanic by trade I can honestly say you did well there mate 👌 when I do leaf springs I have an extra long 1/2 inch ratchet that's a similar length to that breaker bar you was using which is a god send, plus once bolts are cracked off the electric gun comes out to do the rest of the work haha, but seeing you do it old school with basic tools I felt your pain 😭😂. Just so you know for future it was the anti roll bar drop link that was stopping the axle dropping any further. When you're cornering it keeps the vehicle more level, so you dropping just one side means your fighting the anti roll bar. I usually undo the D bolts on both sides so axle drops further. You smashed it anyway bud well done 💪

Cheers pal it was a gruler of a job, over all concept is to build the van on my drive with basic tools just to prove anyone can do it, however the other side only took an hour as I did go and borrow my brothers battery impact gun there was no way I was going through that again 🤣🤣🤣 I was absolutely knackered Good point about the anti roll bar I will try and mention it and you in the next video 👍it about 95% edited. Nice easy job this morning I'm off to fit my air bags thanks for the comment it's appreciated Paul👍

They are called breaker bars cos the bolt either undoes or breaks 🤣 I own 5 😮 one in every motor cos you know how tyre fitters love to wang wheels nuts up with a windy gun 😤 Just found your channel, loving it 👍👍

@@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife looks ok definitely not as springy as your was. The van was a fire regulation installation companies,so maybe it was carrying loads and they had it done

Why 5 tonne leafs, and not Supersprings SSA55 ? I'm torn between both, can't find a comparison.

Supersprings they sound awesome 👌 I'm going to look for them now 😁👍

I've looked and wow! very expensive for what they do given the option I would buy the same again as they work really well 👍

@@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife Thanks! Yeh they are far more expensive. Think I'll go with the 5Ts and use your awesome video to help get them installed :) I've got a Sprinter 906, so will double check they use the same suspension/springs.

Just got a set of Jones 2 leaf for my sprinter to fit this week. After snapping a rear leaf in Scotland last week 200 miles from home and having to find one in a scrappers and change it on a carpark I thought enough is enough. 😀
