I am going from a small furnace room to a laundry room and this piece under a door jam has held me up. I have tried tapping to no avail looked at multiple videos. I did not want to leave the small gap as it is right in the middle of the space. The flooring is absolutely beautiful and high end.... so angling is the only way to LOCK it in. This was a great idea and the rest of the floor is going in perfectly so it will be locked tight right to left and front to back. LOVE your trick! very small space 180" x 90". THANK YOU

@@markme4 You DO have to remove the lip if you're trying to install the same kind of laminate that I'm currently laying. It CAN'T be locked together except by angling it in to the next piece. Both lengthwise and on the ends. It's actually DESIGNED to require a transition at the doorways. It is NOT a user friendly flooring. If it's a high quality floor, you can "persuade" the pieces together without tilting, but if it's a low end laminate, depending on the design, you're stuck cutting off the locking mechanism on the tongue.

You don’t need tht little tool to cut the lip You can use knife at 45 angle to brush off that lip

I wouldn't do this. There is no reason to remove the lip. I am more worried about the huge gap between your floor and the baseboards.....

Never cut the locking system that whole seam is trash now, they expand and contract so glue is not an option plus you just voided the manufacturer warranty. Use a pull bar or tapping block. Split the door case with the short seam when available.
