My only tip would be to crimp on some wire ferrules instead of putting the stranded ends directly in the disconnect lugs. Stranded aluminum wire can loosen over time.

Nice addition! I might do this for my dad's mini-split.

One of the best install videos I've seen for the AG3000 with good detail. One detail though. Apparently after you shutoff the breaker indoors you confirmed no power at outdoor box because you heard the unit simultaneously shutoff when you flipped the breaker. The hot wire at the outside box should be checked dead with a non-contact circuit tester before proceeding with install. Turning off a breaker (might have flipped the wrong breaker switch, for example) is not really a sufficient safeguard that power is actually cut off. Always test with a non-contact line tester before beginning servicing.

I'm told these are great for solar setups too, avoiding surges for inverters etc. Great vid.

Alot of the videos for the AG3000 show the wires from the AG3000 being run right into the terminals of the disconnect. Is using pigtails better practice? I'm guessing the idea behind using the pigtails and wire nuts is to keep the surge away from the terminals bar so that surge never gets anywhere near the actual terminals of the cutoff. That totally makes sense to me and seems like not only preferred install method but actually also is the correct install method, whereas running the AG3000 wires right into the terminals connectors would be incorrect installation?

You should never use more than 1 wire in the disconnect lugs same as all lugs in a panel box according to the NEC.

Does Midea mini split have a surge protector that fits inside the unit?

Thanks for the video. Just installing mine as well ,same model. May I ask does it make a difference installing the surge protector on the load side instead of the line side ? Would it protect the unit specifically by putting on load side of the mini split? Thanks

So I thought this had to be run parallel from the hvac side. And also you cantcut those wires supposedly
