I really would have recommended a deep sump pump that pump's gonna wear out fast and there was no need for a slim pump. The way we do it as a commercial company is pipe out a 3/4" pvc there is no reason to have a pump unless your crawl is entirely below grade.

Did you need to run a separate line for power? Wonder if I could use the same out the hvac unit is on

yes, I had to add a line and outlet.

Good video, thanks. I am looking at getting one of these to replace my 3 year old Santa Fe Compact 70. The unit is leaking condensate, this AprilAire seems like a better unit.

Crawlspace company owner here in NC. We made the switch from Santa Fe to Aprilaire about 3 years ago. Aprilaire makes a way better unit. We’ve installed hundreds of them and only had an issue once and Aprilaire fixed it. Santa Fe paper filter design from experience isn’t good. Also the lack of digital control is crappy. Their customer service to make things right under warranty is next to impossible.

@@willbumgarner9936 Thanks for your experienced post! ThermaStor (parent company of Santa Fe) helped me replace my 3 year old unit, by selling me a new one at a discount. Four months after installing, the condensate backed up again, even though I made a loop in the Tygon drain tubing. Very frustrating. I pulled the tubing off the barbed outlet, and the condensate flowed fine. Can't believe how fast "stuff" grows in the tubing, and now I have to regularly clean with vinegar. Appreciate your recommendation!

I have humidity sensors in all the rooms in my house. Humidity is still right where I set it! I also have a sensor in the crawlspace and that one too is showing everything to be working well. I am very satisfied with this machine so far.
I installed the safety switch, and I could see that if you didn't install that then the warranty might not be valid, but I didn't see anywhere that says warranty valid only if professional installs. The unit was $1,500. To have a professional install it was going to cost $4,500. I think I made the right decision. Everything is still working great.

Actually the ground is covered with a vapor barrier and underneath there are many rocks. It wasn't that difficult to slide on the cardboard box.

Sometimes I do narrate my videos, but this one seemed to be pretty easy to just watch. Thanks for the suggestion.
