Tank and lighting combo looks amazing! After seeing this I wanted to try and ordered 3-4 for the peninsula tank in the great room of my house. I hate to burst the bubbly of anyone looking to get these for home use. But, Orphek likely won’t give you the time of day. I tried contacting them several times, money in hand but could never even get a reply just silence and a cold shoulder. As always, tidal gardens sets the standard for beauty both on the inside and the outside of a reef tank. 👏🏻 bravo 👏🏻

Hey guys, eagerly awaiting an update on this tank. Desperate to know how these lights perform in real world conditions growing corals. I'm looking to get these for my new build, and publicly you're the only guys I can find which have them. Sure other people do too, but no info out in the wild.

Sleek looking lights. Looks great. I just saw the kessil brand of lights like this and they look cool too
@portwolf22934 жыл бұрын
I've always been interested in the commercial side of hobby equipment. I know kessil and a few other manufacturers make lighting in this category with very little information publicity available. I've also been interested in the use oxygen bells in RAS aquaculture systems to control PH and oxygen saturation but can never find much information on that either. Keep it up Than, I'm always looking for that opportunity to learn 👍

There's very little info on the 960s. Tidal gardens, how much glare is there from the 960s? I'm running radions and given most of the radions are mounted just above eye level, the glare is crazy if you observe the tank from a seated position beside it. Do the 960s blind you when you are observing the tank? How about when u glance upwards to the ceiling? They look like they are mounted real high, which means if you look up u could be blinded. The Atlantiks are fantastic in this regard, the lens design nearly 100% removes glare

Not too many hobbyists are using this type of lighting. It is more targeted towards public aquariums.

Do you folks still recommend orpheks. I’ve heard horrible things about the gen 2 orpheks. The leds usually go out after 1-2 years or flicker

How much is that tank alone costs from reef savvy?

At retail, I would guess a reef savvy tank this size is $30-40k depending on what materials and design choices you go with.

Awesome setup!! I was quoted 1400$+tx each by a supplier in Canada for the Amazonas 960XP. I have a 300g 72X36X27 and was thinking of getting 2 mounted 20-24" high. Would I get enough coverage and PAR for SPS with 2? Buying 6 Radions would cost a fortune compared to getting 2 of these and the natural shimmer is a bonus. What do you think?
@tidalgardens3 жыл бұрын
I think these lights are made to be very high above a tank. At 24" you might only be running them at 5%.
@rolisreefranch2 жыл бұрын
You can pick them up for about $900 from Orphek... if they give you the time of day.

The tank doesn't have water in it yet, but we got close to 1000 PAR at the bottom of the tank and it overloaded the sensor towards the top. I don't plan to run these lights nearly that bright.
