Super glad to see this video, I've been thinking of doing this very thing to my '79 St. Regis because the new seats would be probably be cheaper than getting my old seats upholstered. Years ago, I took out the original 60/40 seats and put in bucket seats from an 80's Omni sedan that had factory seats that still used the 70's B-body seat frames right down to the head rest. Once I removed the Omni seat tracks, they were a direct bolt in to the St. Regis. Got a lot of use out of them, but they're pretty much shot as is. This looks to be a good solution.

Put all bolts through holes in floor. Lay carpet back in place. Take exacto knife and cut an "X" over the top of the bolt head. You'll feel it through the carpet.

It took me 6 months and 4 orders to get bucket seats for my Duster. And I STILL had to disassemble the 4th seat and reassemble because it was put together incorrectly. Thanks, Jegs! What a nightmare. First pair of seats, one had the back twisted. 3rd seat the headrest post was welded an inch lower on one side. 4th seat, the bottom springs were put in wrong.

I know this has nothing to do with your video, but would like to see if you would have better MPG with a different carburetor than the Carter bb2 on your van. Love you videos. Thanks

Thanks for showing the process of converting bench to buckets. I'm curious about the seat height now. After you installed the bucket as low the bracket would go, does it sit lower than the original bench now? Or did the worn foam on the old bench sit lower? That's good to know about the steering wheel being a little off center from the seat now. I used to have an 80s Aries K car with buckets and it was the same way.
@318willrun2 жыл бұрын
The seat is the perfect height for me. Maybe the seat isn't off center, it could be the worn out seat had me leaning towards the door. I've very happy so far. Thanks for watching!

I acquired a set of Procar Sportsman bucket seats that I want to install in my '70 Charger. Procar sells adapters to supposedly fit '67 - '77 Chargers, I'm fairly certain those will require some modifications to make them work. Fortunately my car originally had buckets so I hopefully won't have the same issue you had modifying buckets to fit your original bench seat. The Procar seats are universal, as you've said...but other than the adapters, is there anything else needed? Are seat adjusters sold separately or don't they come with the seats?
@318willrun5 ай бұрын
Adjusters are sold separately. other than that, it will be trial and error
@Coelacanth975 ай бұрын
@@318willrun Thanks, I knew the ProCar seats were universal and only the correct set of adapters were required to install them in whichever vehicle. I just wonder how much work will be needed for their '66 - '76 Charger adapters, which I'll buy. Not looking forward to a lot of fabrication and Mickey-Mousing, though...

Did those strengthening plates come with the kit? I bought the seats from Speedway and the brackets from Summit. Looks like I got everything you did except those plates. Are they something that needs to be ordered separately?
@318willrun2 ай бұрын
Yes, they are ordered separately. You could easily make your own plates. If you had a bench seat before, I'd recommend the plates for the inside bolts.
