Glad you are installing a solar system Ben. I live on a small holding and with crippling power costs at the moment I want to do similar to help keep costs down , so I will watch with interest. Love watching your Range Rover vids as well Ben, I still have a bad parasitic draw with my recently acquired L322, hope yours is sorted now.

Hi Ben. Great video. I have one Pylontech battery US 3000 and considering adding another. Our one battery charged completely by mid morning when it’s sunny in the summer but in winter it doesn’t charge fully at all making two batteries in winter, when are usage is high, superfluous . Do you reckon the additional battery is worthwhile

We have the two (want to add more) and they seem to be doing a good job so far. Batteries were at 69% last night before bed, this was after a rainy day, and this morning they were at 42%. So not sure if we could get through the night comfortably with just one. Seem to work well for us in the winter too, also depends how much PV you have coming in. We aim to get more panels up very soon, to catch some winter sun.

Hi Ben. I have two Pylontech US 3000C as you do connected to AESun 5.6 kw invertor. For some reason, every time batteries gets fully loaded (reach 53.5volts as defined in user manual), and sun goes down, the voltage drops to 49 volts in 3to4 hours without anything being connected to it (apparch from inverter) Once it reaches 49 volts its stays stable till next day. Funny is that batteries lights still show fully charged. The figures comes from inverter. Do your batteries behave same way? Or you may have an idea what such dramatic droppage? Appreciate your input.

1:50, it seems strange that Victron, one of the premium inverter suppliers, recommend a fuse and isolator between battery and inverter, yet your supplier dismisses this requirement. Yes, Pylontech have an on/off switch, but it needs someone to activate it, what if there's an issue and you're not around. Makes one think, maybe you should go out and buy a fuse/isolator?

Hello there just quick question what is the maximum voltage you set up on inverters for charging. ? Just asking cos I read on forums that if your battery cut off charging before inverter the extra current have nowhere to go and will definitely burn out the internet. So i fought ok ! But in this situation in this particular model like Growatt what if someone used this inverter as only solar no battery and then if nothing connected solar produced energy to so what it won’t burn inverter ? And one more thing what is the max charging voltage for pylontech ? They are 48v can be charged to 48-56 ?
@Bensgarage
@Bensgarage Жыл бұрын
Not exactly sure of the charging voltages etc. Just set the inverter up for lithium batteries and the BMS does the rest. As for the inverter burning out with no load, it works the other way round. Solar panels do not push power to the inverter, the inverter pulls power from the panels as and when it's needed. So if you have no load, the inverter will just sit idle.

Thanks for the video. How long on average do you think it will take to get the money back on 1 battery bank or approx 3.5 kwh?
@Bensgarage
@Bensgarage 2 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of variables. But for us, 3.5kWh is one battery, which I can get for €1350. And then it depends on your whole system, as to how much you generate and how much you store or pull from your battery. Our current setup, with six panels, one inverter and two batteries cost us about €4500. So we should see a return on our spending in about six years, going on current electricity prices. As the price goes up, our return length gets shorter.

I'm thinking about getting some of these batteries myself, but how to you connect this in such a way that your home pulls from the batteries? How is that setup? I was told by an electrician that I needed some other device and then connect only specific appliances to that, and only those would get powered. Didn't make any sense to me. Why can't this be injected at the "entrance" mimicking the power that comes from the grid, ensuring we don't need to pull as much or at all? Isn't that the whole point? thanks!
@Bensgarage
@Bensgarage 2 жыл бұрын
All the priorities are set in the inverter (in out case). I can set parameters for load source, ie solar, battery or grid, then I can do the same for charge source and then I can set when to start and stop charging the batteries from grid power. When the sun is doing it’s thing, we don’t need to worry about grid power. Our system, I have wired up in parallel to the incoming grid distribution board, taken a feed from the old board to the inverter for grid back up, and have nearly all appliances on the new board, just leaving a couple of high load items on grid until we get another inverter (making our system 10kw).
@ricmrodrigues
@ricmrodrigues 2 жыл бұрын
@@Bensgarage in my case the inverter is far away on the garage, nowhere near the main breaker and the grid entry point. Is that a problem? There is a way through though. Not an easy pass! Shouldn't there be an automatic way to choose the right balance between sources depending on how priority? Like during the day sun+grid and night battery for example.
@Bensgarage
@Bensgarage 2 жыл бұрын
@@ricmrodrigues Not knowing how your system is wired up, I can't comment. All I can do is explain how our system works. I have it set to power the loads, Solar first, if not enough solar coming in it then pulls from the battery as well and when the batteries get to a set point (user set) then the whole system switches to grid for the loads and charges the batteries back up to the set level. I can also set the charging priorities, which I have set on Solar and utility. Solar charges the batteries to 100%, if the sun is shining. Then if the batteries get down to 20% and there is no sun, it goes to grid charging.
