I agree with you. The railing is fantastic. I thought that the deck was outrageous the second that you finished the project. It was such a bold and creative build. I doubt that anyone except you would have thought of this idea and then proceed to build it. This rail system sets off the deck in a visually stunning way and says to me, "Yeah, I'm April Wilkerson and I designed and built this." Thanks for sharing this build and video with us. PS: I like it when you speak a little 'Texas' like "fuh-naggle". Since moving to Los Angeles, I don't get to hear enough Texas spoken.

Beautiful. Now, just add LED lighting underneath the railing tops and under the bottom of the deck and with the app change the colors at night to set it off even more. Then, you can sit on the deck at night with the lights of LEDs. I need you to come to Alabama and build me something like this, only a regular deck that's going to be about 5 feet off the ground on the back of my house. You do such great work you could make a killing working things like this for others...lol. Thanks, April for all you do. You inspire others that anyone can do things like this. Keep up that energy. I have been build decks since 87 and if may. That is one fine looking deck. I wish i could see it in person. Its funny i look at every tradesman work everytime i walk into a building. Wish i could have spent 5 years as a Mason learning that trade. Nice build 👍

I just completed an installation of a high tensile wire porch retention system to keep people and pets from falling off (It's a 10 drop to the ground.) It worked really well and the material to do about 60 feet with six strands of wire cost less than $300.00. I couldn't be happier with the results. It wouldn't work for your application, though, it requires straight runs only.

Great idea, and a quirky but beautiful looking deck. People love curves, but so few contractors do, and now you know why. I've also specified View Rail, and like their product but not their limit of liability waiver. Got into some trouble with a glass rail system that was 1" lower than codes allow. Fortunately, the local inspector gave us a waiver also. One issue I have with your newel attachment is that it won't meet the IRC code for lateral resistance if you are just attaching it to that bendy thin fascia board. Here in Washington, they require us to get that engineered! For some reason that is very hard to do.

Well their product simply wouldn't work for the curves here. It's the difference between Cable and Rods. With Viewrail being the only company to use rods, it is a perfect fit.
