Hey Shawn, thanks for the video on rain sensor. It’s Dec 19, 2023 and Orbit still has not made it clear on how to turn on the sensor on. You saved me a great deal of frustration.

Thanks Shawn, you saved me hours of head scratching to figure this out. Mine works as advertised now. As stated before the Orbit documentation for the B-Hyve controller and the rain sensor does not mention any of this.

Thanks for the video. I was racking my brain trying to figure out why the sensor wasn't working - turns out you found the solution on Amazon from an owner that contacted customer support and posted his findings in a review. Not ideal, but it worked. I wish Orbit support would create better documentation. Thanks again.

Thanks to Shawn for posting this...best info I've seen on how to get the wireless Orbit rain sensor to work with the B-Hyve controller. The bottom line though is the rain sensor is not integrated well with the B-Hyve software. For instance, we had a significant rain the night before a Smart Watering cycle was to initiate. However, the sensor did not delay the cycle and I believe it is because the sensor only forces a delay if it is raining DURING a smart watering cycle. In other words, the controller software doesn't recognize a sensor "delay" input in between watering cycles and force a 18 or 24 hour delay. To prove this I initiated a test program from my phone and then forced the sensor delay during the cycle by pressing the manual button on the sensor receiver. The controller recognized the input and stopped the test program and displayed "SENS DELAY" but again, it doesn't register in the B-Hyve app on my phone. I hope Orbit improves the integration of the rain sensor with the app software--at this point it only is effective during an actual cycle. If I'm wrong on any of this please post--I really want a system that saves water and keeps my lawn green.

Thanks. You would think orbit would figure this out and put out a video like yours. After 2 hours researching it this is the only place with the info

I have the same setup. The key trick is that it will only interrupt a timed program or a Smart Watering cycle; a manual program entered on the control panel *won't* be interrupted. So to test the system, set a program that starts in a minute or two and then the manual override and sensor tests will work.

Thanks for this. Amazing how bad instructions can be on these things. Nice unit, and decent app now, but it would be nice if it said or acknowledged anything about the rain sensor...

Do you have to have your b-hyve on smart watering? Because i am having that problem. Where the rain sensor doesn’t stop a manual or a schedule watering zone :(

My rain sensor doesn't have a receiver. Can't you just run the two rain sensor wires directly to the controller?

Any idea what the sensor does on the sensor pins, does it apply voltage or does it short the pins like a switch? I fancy building my own..

Shorted when no rain; open when it rains; simple switch.

When the rain sensor detect rain, does it display Something on the screen?
