I just ordered the IRP shifter that is similar to this, if you put solid motor mounts in, the shifter shouldn't move like that. more then likely your motor mounts are worn, don't be surprised if it comes out of gear.

Yes my mounts are definitely shot. I don't see a need to replace them just because I'm switching to B. But thanks for the info!

No, I didn't cut it. It will fit like mine in the vid. I just pushed it down as far as it could go.
