This is a tutorial on how to replace the standard tune-o-matic bridge on a Epiphone Les Paul with a new roller bridge. This should work with most tune-o-matic bridges but may vary depending on the make and model of guitar.

Nice mod. Just a suggestion for feature setups, you want to take a measurement from the body of the guitar to the actual strings not the bridge height adjust because the saddles of the roller bridge might sit differently than the previous bridge. This way, as long as your string gauge is the same before and after, you would theoretically have the same bridge height.

Thank you brother. I just purchased one of these from China like you did. Should be here by April 20th. I'm gonna be putting it on my 1978 Aria Pro II LS450. In short it's a copy of a Les Paul Standard in cherry sunburst. I'm hoping that I'll have as much ease as you did on the installation process. I would hate to have to route out new holes.. But thank you for the awesome demonstration of the installation. Great playing by the way. :)

I wonder if that saddle is wider giving you more adjustment for intonation. I have a Lp that's max'd out....all saddles are all the way forward....everything was flat....they didn't install the bridge posts properly. I got every close with the bridge then used the nut to fine tune the intonation (you can angle file the nut slot to move contact forward or back...got every thing dead on except the "D" string.....and that was pretty close....it should be 146.8 htz....I got it to 146.3 htz most people wouldn't hear it but I would like to get it dead on with a bigger bridge

I did this exact thing.. There are 2 sizes.. I ordered one that was Nashville Gibson replacement first. I only did the swap because my tune-o-matic inserts had rocked forward. Luckily.. The inserts were sufficiently larger and I had success with that. I also reversed the D and G saddles to get intonation range closer to what I needed. I'm using 10-52.. For the cost you could have just adjusted the stop tail higher... But like you said.. A few dollars. Don't put a roller nut.... They are a PITA.. And you have to remove material to install. I've got one I put on a Peavey Raptor.. I stopped when I realized you cant adjust individual height... And you may not have the same radius etc.. Just don't..

This is awesome, i think roller bridges are awesome, and there will most likely not be any more string breaks..

Hi! you have posted this 8 years ago...how is it sor far? also how do you intonate with this?

i did the same thing with my epi les paul standard but the one thing i did that you did not do was clean the fretboard with 0000 steel wool and oil soap and then lemon oil to finish it up you need to do this at least once a year.but it was a good video dude.

What brand of roller bridge did you replace your TOM bridge with?
@AB-80X3 жыл бұрын
Give your fretboard some oil every time you replace strings. Takes all but 2 minutes. It last longer and plays better. The oil also helps to keep it clean.

This looks like much better Chinese roller bridge than some I've seen looks well built !

A main difference is that the allen key ones like you have here, you have to detune and move each string to get the allen key in there to adjust the intonation whereas the screw type has the screws on the front like the original bridge so you can use a screwdriver to adjust intonation without moving the string out of the way, you can leave it on the saddle. Although it seems that the overall height of it may be slightly taller than the allen key type, something to keep in mind if like to have a low saddle for low-action purposes. I saw a commentary saying this roller bridge kill the sustain and sometimes when do a bend the string get off the bridge It's true??
@FastSloW-qt8xf3 жыл бұрын
No not unless your bending like 3 steps up at the 24th fret. And the sustain isn't noticable. I heard all that to. What you get in tuning stability and in the case of a wilkinson comfortability it's well worth it
@AB-80X3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is. Look at the bridge. It has the same rollers all across. This means that the wound strings are not really in a good grip. You get what you pay for. Get a Schaller.
@The8TrackChap8 жыл бұрын
Is it made by Toneproz, Wilkinson, Gotoh, or Allparts?

Looks like a Wilkinson?
@AB-80X3 жыл бұрын
None of the above. A Chinese knock-off. Get the Schaller bridge if you want a roller. Works better than the rest.

Hey - lower the volume on the intro. It’s not ‘metal’ - it’s obnoxious and off-putting. Here’s a tip: No one is watching this video for you or your music. They want to know about the bridge on their guitar. Lose the intro & the ‘hey this is me’ nonsense and start with the guitar stuff.
