Sedge you rule! I had been looking around casually for 2-3 months looking for ideas for miter saw station for Kapex and this is perfect both for my needs and for the crazy valuable tips on cabinet and drawer box building. Finally grimaced and bought a domino because I have a day job and a lot of woodworking projects that I want to get done and I can't imagine another tool that could make me more productive. And it will be my first attempt at undermount slides. That's again...now I feel like I can "stay sharp" through the process!!

If you are interested, Snappy makes Centrotec Vix bits. they also make 6" {150mm} #2 square drive that work great for pocket hole screws.
@sedgetool26 күн бұрын
I will look into that. Thanks for the information.

Love the story sticks for visualizing, and, gauge blocks for installing drawers parallel when not using the 32mm system.

Another great video. I would offer one more tip. Festool makes a good quality self centering bit in 5mm which we use because it allows us to use “system screws” on the slides, door hinge plates and other “euro” cabinet hardware. It’s a great system overall and simplifies our hardware needs.

I use it all the time !!!!

@ right!? I love that tool. Little pricey but at the same time it’s priceless.

Sedge, I do the same gauge block thing for setting slides (Usually side mount ones) but I set my top drawer first and work my way down the cabinet box. Then I don't have to remove the drawers. For whatever it's worth to you and your process. Appreciste your content. Cheers

Thanks Sedge, I basically install my drawer slides the same way, but I start from the top drawer down. No need to remove any drawer slides, and I just cut the gauge block down as I go to the next drawer.

Assuming one does not have massive amounts of assembly space and can work on only one bay at a time, your method requires moving the bays for each successive level of drawer. Fitting six bays with four drawers each, will require moving each bay three times in order to save a few feet of scrap plywood.

Great information guys. Thanks for sharing. I do have a question for you. Once you do the first box of drawers and make your gauge blocks you don’t have to keep removing the slides in each box correct? If I have it right… with the gauge blocks made your next box you would start with the top slide on each side and work your way down. Or do I have that wrong?
@sedgetool25 күн бұрын
Yes that's correct

I am negotiating with my wife to build a bathroom vanity as my first cabinet build. I bought all the Festool tools to do that. Do the schematics for the slides show the thickness of that front piece? Would accounting for that thickness in the box build eliminate the need for the fudge factor?
@sedgetool26 күн бұрын
It should show it on the schematics.

What is the gap under the drawer box to the bottom of the cabinet with the Undermount slides installed? I’m assuming it’s 19mm. Is that correct?
@sedgetool2 күн бұрын
15mm / bottom of bottom drawer to bottom of cabinet
