Great video, well done cap. Love the Honda as well, grew up with Johnson’s, now OB. I currently have 9.9 Johnson 2 stroke on my boat. I build wood boats as a hobby. Thanks for a great ride.

I have one for a kicker. It’s the best carbureted unit on the market and simplicity and low maintenance beats any efi in terms of reliability for small outboard. For a main I have honda bf115. 3 years and 0 problems trolling tubing cruising. Great choice you will enjoy it for life

Outboard motor mechanic here for over 35 years. I don't know what has happened to Honda engineering, but Honda 8hp 20 years ago weighed 77lbs. They have always had generators, and quite frankly were better motors than these new ones. Their progress is backwards. Heavier by a long shot. Ridiculously heavy! For those who don't know, Honda 8 thru 20hp are Exactly the same size engine, with just a few alterations to change the horsepower. Different carb, different cam and rockers, a different CDI, and a different gear set in the lower unit. All the parts that are different retail for exactly the same price, no matter the horsepower model, yet you get stuck with a 'lot' higher price tag over the horsepower range. It is nothing but cost cutting at the factory and jacking customers who don't know any better. Stick with a Tohatsu or a Mercury. Way lighter by a long shot, less complicated to repair, less bulky, and less expensive. Pardon me for venting, but when I have to get help lifting a '8hp' onto a stand, something is seriously wrong!

I had good luck with Mercury's also. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the video! I’ve got the same motor and I love it. Looking for a way to attach it to my new caravan which doesn’t have room under the bed like the old one. Thinking modified bike rack on the caravan A frame. Any ideas welcome!

I've seen racks that fit in the hitch receiver that people use to haul coolers, that might work but you need to check the weight limit on the receiver. Thanks for watching.

Mike. I am looking at a used one that is the same color by the cover/hood is much more square shaped. I think it is a 2009 but not sure. What year did they get the more round shape like yours?
@BikesBoatsBivouacs Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what year they switched it but Hondas are reliable so a 2009 should perform well if it was taken care of by the previous owner. Thanks for watching.

I would say a knot but thats a guess. I need to check it the next time I go fishing.
