Installing the BEST BMW Speaker UPGRADE

The sub is still mushy. The location under the seat is not ideal. The mid bass is not kicking. The only solution seems to add amps, put subs in trunk use kick panels in front for mid bass and put tweeters and mids in the A pillars.

This alpha one sounds good, but If u want to have the best sounding systems, go with Focal from amplifier to speakers

I switched out my 1995 740i with a Pioneer HU and 2 sets of Morel Tempo Ultra 502 - Morel 5.25" 100W RMS Tempo Ultra Series 2-Way Component Speakers powered by a Mosconi ONE 130.4 4-Channel 4 x 130W amp and a Gately 2x10 sub box with (2) Image Dynamics IDMAX subs powered by a T1500-1bdCP - Rockford Fosgate 1500 Watt Class-bd Constant Power Monoblock Amplifier. Total system power is a TRUE 2500 watts or pure, clean sound. I had Focal's installed first but the Morel's are unlike anything you've ever heard!

@@BMWDIYGuythey are pricey but and will put bowers & Wilkins, Burmeister to shame. Look for an audio store that has a demo unit with them installed. Have a listen before purchasing anything. So you will know whether it’s something you might want.

@VeneraSGF that's the one problem with audio upgrades.. budget. It's always possible to spend more.. I find the A1s to be very very good, worth the cost and superior to the HKs by a lot. That said it's always possible to buy better but the price scales away in a big way.

For a more premium speaker and amp upgrade the Audison replacement BMW speakers are what I’m going with and the Forza Audison amps.

Hi, Great system :-D. Just notice when doing your doors, you are leaving the old speakers hols opened. This hols need to be closed has they will affect the performance and tuning of the speaker. Try using sound Deadening material to close it.

I have the 2014 F31 320i which just had the base 6 speakers. Front doors, subs and rear doors. If i get the full upgrades with the tweeters will it work or do i need a different door?

@@kobeli138 Audison prima full kit but it's rather expensive. Mine was over 2 grand on my 5 series. Front speakers + tweeters, underseat woofers+ rear coaxial speaker+tweeters+ two 1000W AMPS + a dedicated subwoofer in the trunk. It sounds good enough.

The weirdest thing about my 440 I noticed is that if I play music, then open the trunk, all of a sudden the bass is SO FULL and solid. But when the trunk is closed I'm missing out on a LOT of low end bass. Likely it's bass cancellation happening due to location of the sub.

Sound works by moving air in certain frequencies. When you have sub frequencies it needs to move a lot of air, so having the trunk open allows that air to move. The location of the subs isn't necessarily the problem, it's more that the air needs somewhere to go. I recommend simple cracking your windows or sunroof to let the air escape. This is why you seen a lot of people with their windows down when they're bumpin. It makes the much louder in the car.

I have a g30 and was disappointed with the Harmon Kardons. I was thinking to add a trunk box and woofer but have heard the bass doesn’t make it through to the cabin as I haven’t got the ski hatch or fold down seats

Not true, I added a Memphis audio 12 in a ported box and it sounded awesome

@@steelcowboy2751Yes, since I made that initial comment I’ve fitted a 12” DS18 high excursion with a Rockford Fostgate amp and it sounds awesome. There are actually perforated holes in metal plate behind the back seats and the sound makes it through nicely.

Quite happy with the 12 speaker harmankardon 360W system on my car, maybe I just have the "wooden ear" some people say ;-) Anyway, this is very useful info on how to work with the speakers. Thanks. Don’t get it: you use gloves but then use a metal tool to remove the trim; horrible practice. Why did the car ever have Alpine speakers that didn’t fit when there are the two options designed for the car?
