Can you do this upgrade and keep the OEM 17" wheels?
@carcreationsyt4 ай бұрын
Unfortunately they wouldn’t fit. Possibly the 18” but not the 17” That is unless you got spacers

are all f56 booster the same size. i guess what i am asking is will this work on a mini cooper f56 with the b38 engine , thats the 1.5 t ?

From my research, it is the same size and you should be good to install this!

Nice work I am planning to upgrade my brakes as well. One question about brake bleed. Our car has abs module on passenger front side and that makes it driver rear furthest from it.
@carcreationsyt8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! You need to do the break that is the farthest away from the master cylinder. If you are in a right hand drive car, you are right, the driver rear would be furthest away and you would start there.

You said you got bigger rims so it would fit around the new brakes. What did you use to check if your new rims were big enough or did you just eyeball it?
@carcreationsyt8 ай бұрын
I just made sure the rims would fit a normal JCW. I went to tire rack online and set my car as a jcw so that any rims I purchased would fit these breaks. Just stay away from 17” rims. They fit the normal jcw but probably would not fit the gp3 ones.

Why didnt you install the rear brake rotors? F54/60 have bigger ones, like the ones you showed on the video, also vented, not like the solid ones on the F55/56. They did not fit with that caliper? And what size of rotor were the dimpled ones? 360mm are the ones you ended up installing
@carcreationsyt8 ай бұрын
Really good questions, thanks! It was a little too complicated to explain in the video but originally I was going to install the gp3 rear breaks as well and the rotors were for that. It would have been possible if my car had the electric parking break but it did not so I couldn’t get them to work properly. I instead had to use the normal f56 rear jcw breaks that were not vented. The dimpled ones I got were 335x30 and were from a 2019 jcw clubman I believe so smaller than the new jcw clubman, countryman, and gp3. Hope that answers your questions!

@@carcreationsyt thanks for the answer. Yeah, the 335’s are the ones that come on the F56 JCW and F54/60 BEFORE they bumped the power to 300hp+. And damn, i wanted to upgrade the rear rotors on my 14 F56S (with jcw brakes), but seems i will have to look into some other options

@@carcreationsyt You should look into the possibility of fitting an electronic handbrake to a Mini with the manual lever, as that's something I wish my auto JCW had.
@carcreationsyt8 ай бұрын
@@AutoRestore1 no worries! Yeah it was super frustrating after getting all the parts 😅 I wonder if there is a bmw version that has the manual parking break. That’s the only avenue I have not explored yet
@carcreationsyt8 ай бұрын
@@JohnCarlyle I don’t think it would be too much more difficult than many of the retrofits I have done, but I don’t know if I want to loose the manual handbrake.

I'm also planning such a change in some time, I just have doubts whether I'll fit it in my wheels, I have OZ LUtraleggera 17 inches. Is there no new larger pump for these brakes?
@carcreationsyt3 ай бұрын
Yeah you may need spacers as even with my 18" it was close, however its worth trying to fit them.

Do you think the 18-inch 532 pair spoke wheels on an F60 are valid for these brakes?

Should the Brake Master Cylinder and Power Brake Booster also be upgraded to jcw? Can it be upgraded directly!!?
@carcreationsyt8 ай бұрын
Should work without upgrading those! Although that’s why you have to code the car.
@TrampChannel6 ай бұрын
It's better to upgrade, since JCW has a different ones. But also works without upgrade
@JohnCarlyle8 ай бұрын
Wow, never knew the brakes would need coding. Functionally they're the same, press the pedal to pump brake fluid. Those crazy Germans!!
@carcreationsyt8 ай бұрын
Haha 😆 yep! You can drive them without coding and they are more grippy than before, but if you want the full jcw brake experience you need to code the car.
@AutoRestore18 ай бұрын
Also ABS and DSC runs differently due to coding and different brakes.

I'm confused - what disc did you use on the front? The standard GP3 disc, I assume?
@carcreationsyt8 ай бұрын
Correct, the original front disk I got was too small as it was just the normal jcw one. I had to buy the larger 360x30 gp3 standard front disk instead

@@BullyBoxer I don’t know what they are going on about… 😅😆 This upgrade was done with a mixture of clubman and gp3 parts.
