That is a really nice unit! I like the idea of being able to monitor lots of engine and gearbox stats through it, and it give alarms if something is going wrong. Agree at the helm for a tach and a repeater for oil pressure and engine coolant temperature, with the unit handling alarms as well, this is good if other people are at the helm and they are not 100% sure where the gauges should be. Great unit! Great usage of the bilge hose for the conduit. Regarding gauges. Before you make your final decision I would consider this. For any system gauges you integrate is there alarm set points. High temp set points, low pressure set points. What does it look like when the alarm goes off? Is it visual or audible or both? Does an alarm take over the screen or it it a tiny little icon in the corner? Not that my opinion matters. I’m just giving you something to think about before you make your decision. Gauges if placed appropriately are visible. Gauges are typically fail safe especially considering you usually fuse gauges with self resetting breakers. However Sonar/radar/GPS units are designed to be VERY reliable so.... I like your ideas and thought process. Keep up the good work.
@DangarMarine5 жыл бұрын
I was looking at the RedArc gauges that Damien put on Brupeg and they have some great visible and audible alarms on them.
@jeremykamel96555 жыл бұрын
Dangar Marine they do look like very nice gauges. I’m just thinking that even traditional analog gauges are nice and visible. Audible alarms are good. I haven’t seen the readout and how big they are on the Raymarine. I’m just thinking out loud (in writing) that if it’s just some alternate screen that doesn’t pop up unless you change modes that you could miss something because it’s not visible full time. Raymarine could be a great option. If it pops up with a new window in front of your sonar or radar and says 🚨 your water temp is high, your gearbox temp is high, you have low oil pressure or you have high bilge water. If Raymarine does those things they it’s perfect. If not then a $20 analog gauge from the Autoparts store on you dash would be a good backup at least. If you run electric gauges then you might be able to run multiple gauges off of one sender. So you can have a set in the engine room so you can monitor changes from there is a pinch. I’m not criticizing you in the slightest. I hope you know that. Just providing something to research before you make up your mind. It’s your boat. Do it how you want to do it. If it’s wrong I’m sure 10,000 people on here will tell you LOL. Cheers Jeremy K.
