Looking really heavy duty! I really like the floating rack gear so you can slide stuff underneath - very handy when cleaning, did a similar thing on my DIY platform desk. For cabling you may want to consider a supplier besides Hosa - their stuff is nice enough but in bulk quantities can get expensive. Monoprice is a good alternative but making your own cables is even better. Get a 100' spool of mic wire and a bunch of neutrik XLR/TS/TRS connectors and you can make exactly the cable you need, exactly the length you need, whenever you need it, for a fraction of the price. Enjoy your new space!

Great work! Only suggestion is that the rack mount power strips are just that - power strips with rack ears. Having one to switch on all power is great, but otherwise I'd recommend a good UPS unit underneath for true sine wave operation as well as protection in case power goes out... but most rack mount "power conditioners" do anything but... If you were doing again, would you make the monitor bridge 4 RU wide vs. 3? You definitely have the space.

Dude congrats on the ISA Pre's. Definitely one of my favorite and tonnes of gain, clarity and punch for drums. I recently recorded drums for an album Im working on and used my ISA with a Senheiser Md421 II for the inside kick and it sounded killer. I love Neve Pre's but for drums I often prefer ISA's and API's, especially for inside kick, snare, and toms. I also love the ISA's because they can easily drive SM7b's and other dynamic and ribbon mic's. Also, if you push them into the yellow(and even just a hair into the red) you get just a really nice saturation from the output transformer that sounds something like in between a Neve and an API. Its such a great middle ground. Also expirement with different impedance options on different mic's, you'll be surprised how much it will change the sound/output. Usually though I like the high impedance with dynamic and ribbons, and Ill usually like the ISA or Medium setting for condensers. If you have any questions about it let me know, I know this pre inside and out!!! You rock dude, stay safe during these crazy times!

You may want to look into split wiring looms for cable management. I really like the synthetic ones. You can cut them to length and then burn the ends to prevent fraying. Really easy to install and easy to take wires out and put some in, plus they look slick. Been using it in automotive a lot recently.

That was one thought. Considering itll be hidden I thought it wasnt worth the effort. I may for the cables running down behind the hutch since you can see those.

Very revealing video - thanks! I’m “refreshing” my home studio, and similarly by added a used MOTU 8Pre w/ADAT for $150, giving my a total of 16 inputs, 12 w/preamps. I rarely need them, except for recording drums. But it is nice to leave a lot of mic’s ready to go for amps and acoustic guitars and vocals. I got confused about all the steps with the Focusrite IDA gear?

Us drummers Know how to get stuff done! I feel for you cleaning out above the ceiling. I worked at a television station and we had to remodel an old master control room and the first task was taking down the ceiling tiles and all the crap that had accumulated over 30 years. It was hot up there. I headed straight for the showers after that. Some guy told me they used to have someone whose main job was to empty the ashtrays in the control room.
