Just finished the install on my new SawStop ICS. I want to thank you for showing us how you mounted it on your saw. The install was exactly the same on the ICS. The included instructions have a lot to be desired as they took some concentration to follow. I guess I was spoiled with the SawStop Instructions manual. Now I hold everything to their standards!

I have been using on of these units for about 6 or 7 years and have been very pleased with it. I have no issues other than rather a short battery life, mine uses a watch battery which I never seem to have on hand, I just ordered a replacement readout that uses AAA batterie's and will solve that problem. I primarily use the readout for cutting segments for segmented wood turning and rely on the repeatability of the unit. Which is excellent. A good addition to any shop

Glad to hear that you've had good experiences with it John. I've heard that it can go out of calibration by .2 inches from time to time. I guess I will find out soon enough. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

I’ve had this on my Saw Stop for a couple of years and really like it. Even used it to layout locations of fret slots on guitar fret board cutting jig because of the precision available.

Glad to hear that you like it James. I've heard that it is common for the unit to lose calibration by .2 or .4. Have you had any issues with that? Either way, thanks for tuning in and for chiming in with your experience. I appreciate it.

@@acutabove_woodworkings I haven’t noticed and loss of calibration, but I do re-zero on a regular basis when doing critical cuts to account for blade changes or other activities that may have impacted calibration.

I finished installing mine about a month ago and love it but WARNING be very careful with the LCD area as I ruined my first by stupidly putting the fence end on it while I was swapping blade sides. I've added a little piece of thick acrylic to protect the flexible window on the replacement (at my cost of course). I want another for me dropsaw somehow.
@acutabove_woodworkings3 жыл бұрын
Oh no. Sorry to hear about the readout. I'm glad that you were able to get it replaced and it sounds like you have a good system to protect it now. I will be careful. Thanks for tuning in and taking the time to chime in with your advice.

Kenny, I have been using the Wixey Digital Readout for my Planer for about 2 years. Works perfect, but replacing batteries requires a new calibration. I would not want to be without it. Not sure I want to tackle the install. Planer was a snap.
@acutabove_woodworkings3 жыл бұрын
This install was so bad Steve. I've had a lot worse. I hope that this table saw readout has the same results as the planer readout. I guess time will tell. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

I’ve watched several videos on the installation of the Wixey on the Saw Stop saw and the used the supplied brackets. Why did you choose to modify the attachment of the guide? I do like the tapping for 1/4 20 bolts so I am up for that. Thanks Patrick
@acutabove_woodworkings2 жыл бұрын
The installation with the supplied brackets just seemed like a very insecure installation. The drilling and tapping of the rail made for a much more streamlined installation that was dead solid. It's all a matter of personal preference here. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
@keg1dog2 жыл бұрын
@@acutabove_woodworkings thanks for the quick reply and I agree with your method, my main concern is that you have to be dead accurate on your setting of holes as there is no adjustments. I just clamped the guide to the rail and will watch your video again.

Thanks for the encouragement the installation went well, the unit had a tear on the copper strip on the track side. I contacted Wixey and they said it was there to aid static discharge and the unit has two of them and to remove the damaged strip. They also offered to replace the unit no charge. So far I am impressed with the accuracy of the readout. Again thanks.

Nice job! Does it keep calibration if you had it set at 1", turned it off and moved it to 4" and turned it back on, will it read 1" or 4"?
@acutabove_woodworkings3 жыл бұрын
It keeps it's calibration. It will read 4" once you turn it back on. I hope this answers your question Eddie. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
@loulunetta4253 жыл бұрын
The concept is great but the readout is still digital not fractional. Are you using a conversion chart to look up 1/64 = 0.015 etc.?
@acutabove_woodworkings3 жыл бұрын
On the contrary Lou. This gauge is digital yes, but the fractional values are displayed on the right hand side of the screen. If you look at the video at the 16:54 mark, you will see that the measurement on the display is listed as 3.375 but on the right hand side of the display, it also shows 3/8". No need to use any conversion at all. I hope this clear it up. Thanks for tuning in and for taking the time to leave a comment. It's truly appreciated.

Not long ago I saw your review of a dowel centering jig. I bought the jig and it works great for me. Today I watched your installation of the Wixey digital fence readout. It looks like you’ve had this for 6+ months. What’s your opinion now? Btw your vid’s are great
@acutabove_woodworkings2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words on the channel Harley. I've had this for quite a bit longer than 6 months as the show is pre-recorded. Either way, I still use it all the time but I find that you have to be a little cautious as things like static or sliding your fence to quickly can alter your measurements on the readout but increments of .20". I find that I have to zero out the readout from time to time to ensure its accuracy. I still think it's a worth while installation but I would like it more if I didn't have to zero it out from time to time. I hope this helps. thanks for tuning in to the show.

Nice Video! I have an Incra TS - LS fence on my Rigid 4512 Table saw it is very accurate and is based on 32 seconds of an inch. I think in terms of Thousands of inches instead of imperial fractional measurements. on my Dewalt 735 I had a Wixey DRO however changed it to an Igauge model of the DRO. And it works very nicely on my planner. I am going to look into the Wixey to see if it can be used with my system.
