I made this video because the directions were so poorly written I had to spend an hour trying to find torque specs and figure my way through the directions. It is a tubular setup with disk brakes

Great video for installing a disk brake kit. I had clicked on it to see the tubular control arms installed. ;)

Great video! Currently in the process of installing these tubular arms with Aldan American Coliovers in my LS Swap 69 Cutlass project. Passenger side bottom went in with a little motivation from a 2" bolt with nuts to spread the inside mount out about a 1/4" before being able to line up with line punches to line the center of the bushings up to draw in the bolt with the nut. The driver's side was a whole other animal....plenty of elbow grease and a crescent wrench.

I just installed UMI tubular control arms and Aldan Coilovers. I had a similar issue with my driver side lower control arm...got the bolt in one side but couldnt get the arm in to line up the other bolt. Worked and worked it until I saw a little hole then stuck in a punch then drove it in lining it up.

You mentioned the fitment problem with the Lower control arm to frame, but didn't show how you addressed it.

Do you mind sharing the part number of the disk brake kit you used?

Had issue last night getting the lower control arms to fit into the slot, any tips? Thought of bending the back slot to where I can hammer the arms in..

Michael Russell who commented on this post used a threaded rod and nuts to pull and separate the ears as needed. I used a large crescent wrench

The only real issue is compressing the spring. Is that were you are having trouble?

@@lukasgarrison8505 No getting the A arms in the slots ? lining up is off under 1/4 in
@lukasgarrison85054 жыл бұрын
@@donnalandry2951 ok I remember now. When these cars where made the tolerances were not as precise as you would think. What I am sure happened was the arms where cast using measurements from a chevelle that was off in a different direction. I had the same issue as you. If I remember correctly the pin floats inside the bushing. I bent the ears to accept the lowers

I also have these Tubular upper and lower A Arms going on 1970 Chevelle. I used the same coil spring compression tool and the tool works but gets stuck durring removal. Did you have the same experience? I'm gonna have to cut something, autozone tool before my new A Arms. What say you?
@lukasgarrison85054 жыл бұрын
@@michaelrussell9857 don't cut anything, you should be able to grab lower in the spring.

Installing upper and lower control arms 😂 that sure looks like a spindle to me. Zero control arm install 🤦♂️
