Installing Valley shower cartridge

This video demonstrates how I swapped out my old Valley shower cartridge with a new one because the old one was leaking. The new cartridge was purchased from Amazon. The brand and model number is Danco 88747.

Nice job. Just finished 30 minutes ago replacing the same cartridge for an old Valley single knob Shower faucet and your video was a great, simple to follow, and thorough walkthrough that was very helpful. First time ever replacing a shower faucet cartridge and your helpful video definitely helped make it go smooth. Hardest part was finding the cartridge since I was trying to find it quickly in a brick and mortar with no luck in either Home Depot nor Lowes so ended up getting through Amazon overnight. Was lucky enough to find carriage on Amazon by T & T Hardware for almost a third the cost of the Danco which is surprising expensive. Not familiar with either brand, but hopefully the T&T is ok quality. Thanks again!

I kept having a drip so I stretched out the new springs with two needle nose pliers and the drip stopped.

How the heck did you remove the metal piece that covers the cartridge? I can get mines off.

You mean the bonnet? I just twisted that off. Maybe yours is stuck a bit and you need to get a pair of channel locks to take it off.

Thank you for the video. Great job. I have the same faucet in my home that's 24 years old. Pretty sure it's original to the house. I really appreciate you putting the new faucet information in the video. Is this a back to back shower by any chance with another bathroom in the house? I found a similar faucet cartridge online in a plumbing warehouse but it's not as long, and it says it's for a back to back shower which is what I have. I have not pulled out the cartridge yet to check the size. Thanks
