I'm very confused about what the point of the pre stitched hole is??

Thank you for your feedback, there are multiple stove flue sizes. The pre-cut is the standard size. For first-time hole cutters, the hole is a great guide of placement and also comes with s flap (unlike tents without) so therefore can be covered when not in use. Happy Camping!
