I think Bernard Jackman's comment at the end of the match was spot on. Teams should be forced to name a 35 man squad at the start of the tournament which they have to stick to unless there are medical issues. Theres no value for anyone when the likes of SF send a second string team to Dublin to be hammered. I was actually happy to see SF score the try and the end becuase i felt bad for them.

Any competition running in parallel with another that includes a group competition will have this issue. Reducing squad size isn’t going to have this issue as stade team would have been made up of players in that 35 anyway. Don’t know the solution except to make the games have more jeopardy from the outset 🤷‍♂️

Ban teams permanently from the competition that send second strings teams out. They have zero business in the competition if that is what they are doing. Totally devaluing the competition and screwing up the tables.

The best thing would be to go back to the old Heineken cup format where every game was do or die but the English and French put a stop to that. It was when the European cup was at its best.

Preferred the old format with each game being played as a decider, no second chance’s 🎉 tends tae focus the players and the coaches minds on winning 🏆… Luvly inside pass that, at pace and perfect timing, thing of beauty etc …..
