Well if THIS one ain’t “The Luck ‘O The Irish!”
Being a Jewish boy who was raised in the burbs of NYC, I know a thing or two about Pastrami and Corned Beef, deli-style. But I must confess I never tried a Corned Beef & Cabbage yet. So seeing how St. Patrick’s Day is fast approaching, I decided to make one. True, it takes a little longer than most IP recipes, but it’s worth every second! It truly is the gold at the end of the rainbow! But don’t think that you’ll require Leprechauns at your table as an excuse to make this Irish staple. It’s good any time of year!
***AMAZING LEFTOVERS TIP!:
The next day, if you want to make this a totally different dish, get some rye bread, reheat some corned beef and add some decent Russian Dressing (I love Ken’s Steakhouse brand) and make an old school Jewish Deli-style corned beef on rye! To add even MORE bang, butter one side of each slice of the rye bread, add some sauerkraut and Swiss and grill in a frying pan to make it a KILLER Reuben!

I’m a ‘senior citizen’ and all my life I cooked when I had to. Since I’ve gotten my Instant Pot I was blessed to find PRESSURE LUCK and you! My husband is in heaven....I go through your recipes avidly and have never had a failure. Your instructions are concise, pretty easy (all things considered) and the final result is great food! I really enjoy ‘cooking with you’ because you definitely make it fun. Mama Eisner and Grandma did well!

I'm the same way. I always cooked because I liked to eat, not because I loved to cook. I just got an Instant Pot and I started finding these KZbin video recipes. Matter of fact I'm headed in to make Corned beef and cabbage. I'll see if this guy's recipe is like grandma use to make. It sure looks like it will be. This Instant Pot thing is going to make me fat. LoL.

The next time you make this, preheat your oven to 400. Take your brisket and glaze it with brown sugar and mustard. Bake it for 10 minutes or so. Then slice it up and eat with your veggies and soda bread. Herman the German was half Irish and taught us this. He always invited everyone that lived nearby to stop by his farmhouse for St. Pat's Day for food and drink. They were a wonderful family and I think of them all whenever I make this. Food is fun!

Made this again, but having no ale, I used left over red wine. Removed the cooked corned beef and put the veggies in the pot to cook. When the veggies cooled I added a tin of stewed whole tomatoes then I used the immersion blender making a huge amount of soup, very delicious heart healthy soup. There was so much that I've canned it using my old fashioned stove top pressure cooker.

Thanks for the great video. That's exactly the way to do it...cooking the vegetables last. The only mod I would suggest: If you want to cut your cooking time on the brisket by maybe 75%.....cut the brisket up into 1" steaks before you cook it.

Phenomenal! The only part I did not do is brush off the pepper corns. Our family personally love them and the packet is NEVER enough so we buy a giant container and put it all over the Corn Beef and it always gives it a nice little kick. I have not tried to do this garlic but it's on the pot now so I will know how it all turns out in about 55 min 😋 thanks for all your amazing recipes! I did your Katzu Pastrami a couple weeks ago and it was insane!! I actually bought two corn beefs this week one for corn beef and cabbage and one to remake the pastrami thanks so much!!!

I've made this recipe twice now and I have to say, you need the Guinness Beer. First time I used 1/2 Guinness & 1/2 beef broth. The second time I didn't have a Guinness Beer in my pantry so I used just beef broth. The second one didn't taste as good as the first so my husband concluded - it was the Guinness that gives it the taste it really needs.

After 2 years of my InstantPot sitting in it box and being lonely, I finally got the courage up to try my pot. I made pulled pork tenderloin tonight. My husband was in love with dinner so my next dinner will be corned beef and cabbage, plus potatoes and carrots. I cheat and buy the little carrots. It's always been great in the slow cooker so I know it's got to be FABULOUS in the Instant Pot. I think I'll beat the rush and do it next week, then do it again for St Patrick's Day. I need some good deli rye so we might drive to Ann Arbor and go to, Zingermanns for the bread. You have to have good Jewish bread! I'll make 2 flats so we will have plenty left over for sandwiches. I might get some sideso of their wonderful pickles while I'm there. Just the bread and pickles will cost a fortune. I don't care, this is a special meal because I'm Irish. 🍀🍀🍀

Excellent! I cook the corned beef alone one day before and place it in the refrigerator over night. Then remove the fat and it will slice perfect. Then cook your vegetables and place your cut beef on top of the cabbage. Cover the corned beef with liquid and then add seasonings to liquid. Serve with creamy horseradish on the side. Also cook buttered corn and have Kosher dills and radishes as sides. I’ve-cooked this for family and relatives for many years. It’s a winner and much different than yours. I use a crock pot and slow cook the meat for 6 hours. Then throw the liquid away. I steam all vegetables for 10 to 12 minutes. Great job and much faster than my method. 🌽🥕

I don't own what I knew back in the day as a pressure cooker. So, how this gramma makes corned beef and cabbage... I use my slow cooker. I don't wash the meat. I plop it into the slow cooker and add EXTRA pickling spice. Cover with water. About 2 hours before the meat is done cooking I add carrots, potato, red or white rose. They are easier and don't fall apart. And I add celery cuz I ❤celery but it's not part of and "IRISH BOILED" dinner. I don't scrape the spices off and cook the veg in it because I want that flavor in them. I add a bit of Kerry Told Irish butter to the veg. Easy also, just like a hot pot. Maybe I'll buy one someday, if I can find a place for it in my kitchen. Now, my Kitchen aid stand mixer has the position on the queen on my kitchen counter top. IE: I don't have room for it inside a cabinet and it's a stasis symbol statement that this gramma can cook/bake. I have a request. Make Saurbratten (sp?) The German roast where you use ginger snaps to thicken the gravy. Oh, I don't use beer in my Corrned beef. Not a fan, unless it has brats cooking in it. 😂

Have you ever attempted to make Chicago style Italian beef with the instant pot? Most recipes I've found online often use a slow cooker method which takes far too long. I'm sure it can be done in less time with the instant pot and be much more flavorful.

I have not, but can you describe what you mean by "Chicago style Italian beef?"

Oh oh oh I know! Take a beef brisket, two cups beef broth, two packets of Ranch dressing mix, and a jar of banana peppers with the juice. Pressure cook on high for 90 minutes, serve on toasted hoagie rolls then dip the whole thing in the juice!

I think you are, by far, the best Instant Pot cook I have seen on KZbin! I have learned so much from your videos. I love how you get right to it, and you have a wonderful sense of humor. Tonight, I am making this corned beef recipe. So far, my family has loved every one of your recipes! I hope you are staying healthy and safe!!! Keep up the great videos!

Nice video. Pastrami video was fat side up. In corn beef, fat side down with seasoning on top... so meat gets seasoned. Any additional tips, since 2017?

I just made this (for the first time) Corned beef and cabbage in my IP and served it to a new friend who has cooked this the traditional way for a long time. She and her family loved it! My wife and I did too. This is the best recipe for a brisket/corned beef dinner. THANKS!!!!!
