Thanks for the overnight recap, Norlander. Interesting that KenPom has Duke at number 1 in adjusted defense while Zona is down to 22nd overall with a projected record of 17-12, 11-9 in the B12. I think that would be good enough to make the Tournament but it could be touch and go this season? Gonna be very interesting.

Duke has 3 of the top players in the country. Their weakness as a team is that their players 7 through [end of bench] are significantly less capable than their 6 primary players. That's part of how Kentucky beat Duke in the Champions Classic: UK hung in there while the Duke stars were making things difficult, but late in the game, Duke's Maluach got cramps and Flagg showed that he was tired and less-sharp; the Cats took advantage of those things.

Nah. Deepest Duke team in 10+ years. That’s the narrative going into the season and for once it’s the correct narrative. Players from 6-9 could easily grab starting minutes.

@@droidx1191 pretty sure maluach was in when he got scored on. . carr got the and 1 and hit the free throw. I see one of the best players in the country. Maluach is tall and unskilled. He has that height! Then they got kaunipple and what proctor? I think they're a good team but Flagg is really the main guy. Unless they're playing unranked teams and Arizona isn't really a 25 team

Agreed, so far at least. Pretty obvious Scheyer doesn't trust the other freshmen to contribute (probably more worried about defense). I don't know what the final numbers were on 3s against Kentucky (I didn't catch the entire game), but Duke was missing open 3 after open 3. Even with that, they had a great chance to win that game. I think Kentucky is better than advertised too, based on that game at least. They might be a problem. Who knows at this point. I figure, injury factor aside, Duke is probably going to improve more than most teams as the season progresses, simply because their best players are so young. Maliq Brown is amazing to watch. He's got to be a nightmare to play against.

A squandered lead vs UK doesn’t really matter this early in the season. Duke was clearly capable of winning that game , even comfortably, but they didn’t know how to finish it off. They grew up a lot tonight.
